Value World Thrift — Local services in Westland

Okay, so I love to shop 2nd hand stores. I also LOVE Value World. The Westland Michigan store is by far the best one that have been to. I was there on Wednesday 3/10/21 for the pop up 50% off sale. I walked in and right away I see the hand sanitizer right at the front door. Awesome! Then, you can see that they had a lot of carts available. (See Pics) I Started to look around since I've never been to this location prior to this. It looks very organized and managed well. It just had that feeling. I see they had many registers open. Huge plus!! An employee was directing them on which cashier to cash them out. Impressive! I found many great treasures!! I had a question in regards to something, and the employee was very informative and double-checked his answer for me. Yay! As I walked around looking for more items, I noticed all workers were doing their job, not standing around chatting. Awesome, again! When I was ready to pay, the person directing customers to the registers was very professional. (None of the other value worlds do this that I know of).My cashier, Lisa did a great job. She also told me about signing up for the point system. Which I did. The new registers are very cool!! And a social distancing with a plexiglass were in place. I was happy about about this for obvious reasons. It was really a great experience at this location. It's about a 45-minute drive for me, but I will definitely go back to this location before I would go to the others at this point. To sum it all up, you know you're at a second hand store but you don't feel like it. I am impressed with the way the employee's/management run this store. Great job value World...

Decent selection, but as the other reviews say- it's pricey for a thrift store. But me and my boyfriend had a bad experience in regards to customer service. He had wanted to look at a pair of boots behind the counter by the jewlery, and I left him to do my own shopping. Probably within 15 minutes, he's still standing there- he told me he had asked the lady at the counter if he could take a look, and was still waiting on her. He asked a second time to no avail, and we watched as she took another customer instead of helping him. We then left because it was clear she had no intention of coming over and helping, absolutely zero competence on how to professionally balance running a register and helping other customers at your station. I have worked in customer service for 4 years now, and I learned the ins-and-outs of providing a nice experience for my customers, and this person has definitely not learned this yet. Do better instead of being lazy, it is not hard to call someone else over to help you or politely explain that you are busy and will be able to help in a moment, ESPECIALLY when you can see him standing there. Value World provides me with an opportunity to shop for vital materials at a reasonable price.  They have a wide variety of clothing here which makes the place particularly attractive.  Most of the clothing is priced just where it should be.  A lot of it is in very good condition and appears as if it hadn’t even been worn.  Their shoe selection is limited but dresses, pants, blouses, shirts, ties, pants, suits, sweaters – all are top of the line and worth a look.  Everything is color and size coded making shopping convenient.

They have a nice sized book selection and the prices are reasonable.  Books range through all topics and are in good condition.  They have magazines and other reading material as well.  Their music selection is available though limited and dependent on recent acquisitions.  Any collector would want to take a look.

I enjoy their specialty counter which features items ranging from jewelry to the unique and sometimes odd.  Always worth a look.
