1st let me say that I always make an attempt to be kind and polite in general but especially to restaurant staff. I worked at a restaurant while getting through college so I know it can be an interesting job. We were really hoping to try food from the new menu but sadly we were unable to do so. Upon arrival the hostess acted annoyed that we entered the restaurant (they were still open for another 1.5 hour). We were seated and waited 10 minutes while the staff cleared tables and tended to the other patrons before being greeted by a waitress who didn't give her name and also seemed not to want to serve us. After taking our drink order they brought back the incorrect drinks. I liked what they brought so I didn't bother asking for a correction. No need for any friction on our night out right? After deciding what we wanted to eat we waited for 30 minutes for someone to take our order. I attempted to wave down the only staff member I saw but was unsuccessful. At this point I didn't want to order because it was getting late and I would rather not annoy the kitchen. After all they do handle the food. When a young man finally came to take our order I asked for the check. The same waitress that took our drink order returned and said the drinks were complementary and apologized for the mistake. Mistakes happen and I understand no one is human but by the time we left we were one of three tables. We are not invisible. And the general theme of us being uninvited was a repeating one. We were bummed out, but hey, I suppose we...

I don’t know if our waitress just isn’t used to handling groups or just didn’t care though her attitude seemed to be we were too much trouble. I was a little late getting there due to another commitment but she never even came back to the table to check on the others drinks or see if anyone else had arrived since it would have been obvious that initially there were some empty chairs. Finally, a young man showed up with some of the food for other members of the group and I had to have someone at the other end of the table tell him to please go down to the other end and take my order. When more food arrived, it seemed chaotic because the waitress had not kept a seating list of who ordered what. Also, people were having to ask for their salad or vegetables, etc. After serving, again no one came back to make sure everything was even okay or if we needed more pita which we did. When people were asking for to-go boxes, she brought them to one end of the table but not the other. Management charges an automatic tip for groups which I don’t mind paying as long as I’m getting the service I’m paying for and in this case, we largely didn’t and some of us got no service at all other than our plate put in front of us. As to the food, I got the combo chicken shawarma and gyros plate so I could be sure I’d get my food quickly and not hold anyone up. Also, it’s quite delicious. I won’t be back to this Albasha any time soon and never...
Read moreI found this place in middle of the night on my way to Landmark Baton Rouge (checking Google Maps for directions to Landmark and to stretch my legs).
I noticed it and because it had been awhile since I visited Baton Rouge, I was curious about it. Because it was close to Landmark and I had never been there before on other visits, I thought it would be good place for lunch.
My brother and his wife like Mediterranean food, so few days later, we had lunch there. I am glad we did.
Very welcoming staff and the ambience is very European. The decor reflects the Greek and Armenian cultures. I felt quite comfortable and relaxed, and the food was fantastic!
Our server was superior. As we were discussing what we wanted for lunch, he heard my sister in law say what she wanted before leaving for restroom. When he greeted us, he started off saying the dish she wanted, earning him an extra tip!
I found the menu very inclusive of Greek and Armenian meals I ate when in Greece. Sure they have gyros and hummus but the menu encompasses so much more than that.
I'm totally enjoyed my meal, the service and the ambience. I will be back in Baton Rouge (coming from Los Angeles) to attend to family matters, and look forward to another experience.
I did not have opportunity to take photos of the trickling fountain, good and other dining areas so this is a...
