Rating 2 stars ONLY because of the venue--great acoustics and great bands. I will give 0 stars for the rest.
The website said they are free shows. Under the support tab, it states the following: "Johnny’s Blitz is determined to deliver high class live blues, but that comes at a price. We kindly ask you to donate to help pay for the band. $10 dollars per person is the recommended amount. Thank you!" Let me point out the word RECOMMENDED and now I will tell you what really goes on.
I was there Sat nite, big crowd. Once during each set the owner made a big speech via mic and then walked around and SHOVES the bucket in your face (I'm not exaggerating) and says "did you donate?" I said no but had my money ready. He said "come on, I gotta pay for the band man!" So that is not KINDLY and it is not ASKING, as he says on the website. If you are going to demand a donation then charge a cover at the door or put it on the bill, but don't put people on the spot and shame them in front of other patrons to "donate" to pay the band, man. Additionally, there is also a tip bucket for which we are supposed to "donate" in as well.
Not only was this whole scenario off-putting, but then at the mic, he is swearing. No need to swear. Have some decorum at your own venue. The staff is not super friendly or attentive. Maybe if I were a big drinker or with a big group making them lots of money, they would be more attentive. Overall super disappointed. This place had great potential. The owner/staff need a little lesson here and an...
Read moreMy family and I went here on Saint Patrick's night to enjoy the live band and have a good time. None of us or anyone in the bar was asked to pay a cover charge while entering the bar. As my dad asked for a second beer, the owner then came over and asked my dad how he was paying. When my dad said he was paying with cash, the owner then all of a sudden asked my dad if he paid the $10 cover charge. As my dad stated he didn't, the owner told him he needed to pay the $10 cover charge as he was reaching his hand towards my dads cash to grab it out of his hand. He then stated he needed the cover charge as he has multiple bands in there throughout the year which costs him $90,000.00. By the way, when he took the money from my dad, he didn't put it in the cover charge box, but instead pocketed it for himself. It was 5 of us there and they lost out on a lot of money tonight. Would absolutely NOT recommend and will never go here again. I would give this place negative...
Read moreI’m not even exaggerating as I am about to declare that this has got to be the best burger, I believe, I have had in my life, and I happen to be 38 years old! I’ve been around the block a few times. I’m not exactly a young spring chicken. It has got to be the mixture of the 8 oz patty of fresh prime aged steak and short rib brisket! I can go on and on but you have got to get in there and try it for yourself if you happen to like burgers! Having just discovered this place… I can’t wait to get back in there on a normal afternoon or evening and experience the live music and crowd! I found it to be very clean because I judge every place I go to by the bathrooms and I found it to be a really well-built and cool place with a very friendly and helpful staff! The owner was super polite, kind, and, seemed like a...
