It was so good, as a Peruvian and sushi lover. I love Peruvian restaurants that take on Peruvian sushi. The acevichado roll was great, the crunch of the tempura shrimp was crispy, not greasy, and delicious. The size of the sushi roll was perfectly bite sized--as it should be. A lot of restaurants make these giant rolls that fall apart as they get picked up. The tuna on top was also fresh, making a wonderful soft contrast against the crunchiness of the tempura inside. The acevicado sauce was good too! I only took one star because the other time I came, I wasn't the biggest fan of the passion fruit sauce on the other roll they had. I hope they expand their sushi menu and try to have other rolls like a lomo saltado roll or like a chicken papa a la huancaina roll. I hope they stay open, they're in an area that isn't very latin..it seems like people may not be sure what Peruvian food can entail..and I think people get distracted by the mundane salads and sandwiches offered at other stores so anyone reading this should def give them a shot! Def something a little different from the salad wraps and grilled cheese sandwiches sold...
Read moreAte here in March and was majorly disappointed. When I hear the name rice and spice or see it's sign, it gives me scary flashbacks of my bad experience. Here is a copy of my review from Facebook: Just had one of the most terrible meals ever. Please beware of their sushi. Ours was so horrible, it should have never even left the sushi chef's counter!!!! Out of the 10 things we ordered, the salad with ginger dressing and the hamachi kama were the better dishes. I especially did not like the fact that they did not spend the extra money for Japanese mayo but instead used reg American mayo for their sushi dishes (I guessed and the waiter confirmed this)... Their food is pricey enough to command the better mayo. Also, their yuzu did not taste like yuzu. If I had to guess, it was regular lemon juice used. Although, according to the waiter, management was definitely in, they did not even come to apologize for the spoiled sushi we were served....
Read moreWent there with my Peruvian family. The experience and food were great and hit all the marks!
Ambiance: Gorgeous restaurant, with lovely touches in every corner. We especially loved the multicolored velvet chairs! Even the bathroom was luxurious 😂
Staff: SUPER attentive and kind staff. We were there with my grandmother visiting from Peru, who has some dietary restrictions. The staff did everything to help us make sure she had a great meal.
Food: Highly recommend the causa acevichada (though we asked to keep it traditional and not be fried). Pollo saltado was also a huge hit. Finally, the carapulcra was excellent. For dessert, the quinoa creme brulee was delicious and their alfajores are the best I've had in the States!
Can't wait to come back for brunch to try out their chicharrón and...
