Gaetano's Deli — Restaurant in Westport

I can't believe that I never knew about this hidden gem until a few months ago!!! I was sent to Gaetano's to pick up a work lunch order one day...and had the most entertaining and welcoming experience ever. When I got back to the office, I learned the food was as delicious, if not more than the entertainment. I have introduced my family to Gaetano's and they have become huge fans...from my mom to all my siblings and nephews! I walk in there and feel like I am part of the family. My experience while I am in their deli is just as important as the quality of food that I carry out that door. I have met great people there who share the same loyal following, and I have reconnected with old family friends while "hanging out" for my order. Milanno, Gusto, David, Chris, and everyone behind the scenes...you truly are the BEST! You epitomize EXCELLENT customer service and always go above and beyond! I sincerely appreciate your welcomeness, humor, care, thoughtfulness, and generosity. As I say, my day is not complete without a stop in to say "hello," even if my fridge is fully stocked with your delicious goods! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I am so blessed for being introduced...

Ok- I saw on Instagram a comment that this place had the BEST sandwiches in the state of CT. I had to go and explore. Great group of friendly workers- told him I wanted to try some things on my 1st visit. I got eggplant parm, meatballs, and a Grinder- Leonardo ( either DaVinci or DeCarlo?). Fresh mooz, sundried tomatoes, Prosciutto, etc. OK- fresh and filled to the brim. Was good. Bread was boring/ bland. Meatballs in lots of sauce - both had a faint taste like the batch had a minor burn taste. Not great spice flavors. The eggplant parm had all the right ingredients but again the sauce moderated it from being exceptional. The associate was FANTASTIC - He gave me two tastings of Chicken - one was red/ BBQ I believe the other white sauce - did not like flavor and chicken was overcooked. Not sure- maybe I need to go again and order some different offerings. One thing - maybe a number system like a Bakery. The customer area is very small and it made customers who came in later than others try to order their long list of custome sandwiches before other customers who were waiting before them. With 4 or 5 associates- they did serve...

What can I say about Gaetanos that hasn’t already been said in other 5 star reviews? This place is amazing! Not only does pretty much anything you can order taste out of this world but the staff, atmosphere, and whole experience is really unexplainable till you go there yourself. The owner is always there and clearly loves what he does and loves his customers he serves daily. He is a great entertainer and I love seeing him when I stop by. If I could say anything bad about this place is that the line literally stretches out the door and around the building because of how popular this place is on a daily basis, but don’t let that fool you cause the line moves quick as they cater to every customer quickly, professionally, and get you your order in no time at all and let me tell you it’s worth the 5-10 minute wait. I love this restaurant and stop by as much as I possibly can. If you are in the area and haven’t tried Gaetanos yet it is an absolute must! They are voted #1 in CT for a reason and may be the best deli on the east coast possibly the country. Keep up the good work guys I’ll see...
