I was in town visiting family for the weekend and decided to grab some pizzas. When I called a woman answered who only had time for my order and no questions was just plain flat. I guess she was either busy or having a bad day, as I was trying to tell her I found her on Yelp and didnt understand the various sizes they had and that I was looking forward to coming she abruptly cut me off and said "anything else?!" I simply said no and she hung up.
Being in the industry 30 years now and knowing how I should be treated as a paying customer I wanted to just go somewhere else but since the pizza place was close to my sisters house and it was raining I didnt want to vary off..
When I walked in it seemed like a cozy family place. The woman wasnt at the counter but a young man with glasses. As he handed me the pizzas and I was paying ( 63.00 ) I grabbed a menu and placed it on my pizzas. The man looked at me and said "those are for eat in only" and I had to put it back. He then took a sticker from off the side of the register and said "here take this" I wanted a menu. What he gave me was a sticker with the phone number on it. Yes they have the menu online but the letters are very small and hard to read.
Dissapointed that I got the "hurry up and buy" attitude from everyone. The pizza was great. 24inch shrimp pizza and 16inch Greek pizza but go through that again? Nah
Im sure ill find better pizza and service elsewhere next time I come to visit...
Read moreI placed a pick up order over the phone. Once I went to the car I wanted to remove the cold grinder from the hot ones. It was then I saw we were missing a grinder. I went back in and told the staff. They took all 5 grinders from me and said they were “labeled” wrong. I didn’t understand how they knew they were labeled wrong when they hadn’t opened them yet. After they took them they obviously had to reopen them all. Then once I got them back one of them that was originally hot was now given cold. I had to wait again. As I waited I touched the other grinders and they were now getting cold. The order had to be looked at 3 times back and forth from me to the staff to get correct. Yes, the staff was not rude and attempted to fix it . However, the bag should have been checked each time before it was given to me. Once I got to the car the pizza and fries that had been in there as I was waiting was also now cold. I would think after all the waiting and now cold food, that we would have gotten a free soda or chips, a gift card or something for the inconvenience. Take out should be in and out. I would be very reluctant to...
Read moreWas looking to try pizza in the Hartford area as I hadn't been there before. Saw Village Pizza high up on recommended lists and gave it a try.
I saw they had different options available for crust, so I tried a large thick crust (bacon/meatball) and a medium regular crust with pepperoni.
In hindsight I wish I had done the opposite but live and learn.
The pepperoni pizza looked 10/10. And it tasted almost as good. I felt like I got thick crust on this pizza instead of normal though. Maybe they just have one style of crust and advertised incorrectly? Either way it tasted great so I wouldn't complain much.
The bacon/meatball was just alright. They cube their meatball pieces but I didn't get much flavor from them. The bacon was flavorful though and overall it was good enough to eat.
I would recommend getting extra cheese or something to add a little grease to the pizza as the dough was a bit dry (though flavorful).
I only got take out but the environment was great and seemed like a perfect spot for locals to return to regularly. I would go back but probably stick to the...
