I recently dined at Stockholders Steakhouse in Weymouth, Massachusetts, with high hopes and an empty stomach, ready to indulge in their $50 Porterhouse steak. Spoiler alert: my stomach left emptier than my wallet! 💸😅

Let’s get into the facts. A true Porterhouse steak is a cut fit for royalty. By definition, it’s a T-bone cut from the rear end of the short loin, meaning it has both a sizable strip steak on one side and a tender, buttery filet mignon on the other. 🍖 According to USDA standards, the tenderloin portion of a Porterhouse must be at least 1.25 inches thick at its widest point to qualify for the name. Anything less is just a sad excuse for a steak. 🥴

And size? A proper Porterhouse should be hefty – at least 1.5 to 3 inches thick and weighing in at 24-30 ounces before cooking. It’s meant to be a showstopper, a steak you can share (or tackle solo if you’re feeling ambitious). What I got at Stockholders, however, was thin and disappointing, more like a low-tier sirloin in disguise. 🤥 The steak lacked the rich marbling, thickness, and tenderness that make a Porterhouse the prized cut it’s supposed to be.

Adding to the disappointment, I specifically asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare, the gold standard for a good steak to retain its juices and tenderness. But what arrived at my table was very clearly medium. 😑 Now, I understand that when a steak is as thin as the one I received, it’s nearly impossible to nail the correct doneness. By the time you try to sear the outside, the inside is already overcooked. So what do you expect from a steak this thin? Not much, unfortunately.

To top it all off, the irony of the night was that the steak tips on the menu had more body and presence than the Porterhouse! 😅 The tips were thicker, juicier, and far closer to what I expected from a steakhouse meal. Imagine paying for the king of cuts and walking away jealous of someone else’s steak tips. 🤦‍♂️ At that point, I almost wished I’d gone for the “lesser” option!

That said, the meal wasn’t a total loss. Our waitress, Brianna, was an absolute gem! 💎 She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely cared for. If I could review Brianna alone, she’d get five stars and a standing ovation. 👏🏽 If only the food could rise to her level of excellence!

In summary, Stockholders needs to step up its steak game. A Porterhouse steak should be a feast, not a disappointment. At $50 a plate, I expected a cut that met industry standards in both size and quality. Instead, I left feeling like I paid premium prices for bargain-bin meat. 🥩💔 Brianna’s top-notch service softened the blow, but unless the kitchen gets its act together, I’ll stick to grilling my own steaks at home – thick, juicy, cooked medium rare, and with more body than steak tips. 🔥

I recently visited stockholders , excited to try their much-talked-about cuisine. The ambiance had a nice vibe, and my expectations were high as I settled into my table. However, what should have been a delightful dining experience quickly turned sour due to the rushed service.

From the moment I was seated, I felt an unsettling urgency from the staff. While I understand that restaurants may have busy periods and turnover is important, there’s a fine line between efficient service and feeling pressured to leave. My server approached me almost immediately. I appreciate attentiveness, but it felt more like being herded than catered to.

Once I placed my order, the food did arrive in a timely manner, and I have to give credit where it's due—my meal was delicious. However, as soon as I finished, the server returned with the check, not even allowing me to enjoy a moment to digest or reflect on my meal. I had barely set down my fork before being asked again and again not only from the guy who served us but from others servers also, if I was still working. The last guy did the same question and without asking me to remove the plates he removed it even my family wasn’t done with the food,It felt incredibly rushed, as though the restaurant was more concerned with turning over tables than providing a pleasant dining experience.

Overall, while the food at Stockholders was commendable, the experience was marred by the overwhelming pressure to leave. Dining out should be a leisurely affair, and I left feeling less like a valued guest and more like a transaction. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works to ensure that their guests feel welcomed and unhurried in the future. Until then, it’s hard for me to recommend this restaurant, as service is just as crucial as the...

We went for dinner early and sat at the bar. We know the specials come out around 4PM. We've been going to dinner at this restaurant for 7 years. We sat down at 3:55 and asked the bartender, Lynn, about the specials and were told they weren't out yet but she would let us know. I ordered a bowl of chili which came out without any tortilla chips, we had to ask for them. A second bartender arrived, Phyllis. We've been to the bar while she is working and her attitude is awful. At 4:30 we had to ask again about the specials which we were not interested in. We wanted to order a second drink but Phyllis told us it was not her side of the bar. I ordered the 14oz sirloin medium and my husband ordered the filet medium rare, which is his usual order. My second drink did not taste right so Phyllis grabbed the glass and replaced it but she made the wrong drink. Both our steaks came out overcooked, we didn't want to complain since it seemed to be a big problem for both bartenders. We did let the manager know that we were extremely unhappy with the service and our meal. We felt like we were bothering the bartenders because they had a job to do and they both failed miserably. I've never had a bad meal at this restaurant until tonight. I told the manager I would not come back especially if these 2 bartenders are working behind the bar. According to the manager these are 2 of the best bartenders which we find really hard to believe given their rude attitude which is very obvious to the customers. The manager removed our steaks from our bill which was the right thing to do. We find it hard to believe that other customers have not complained about the service when both these bartenders are...

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites places to eat, food was delicious and prices were reasonable considering portions and presentation and on my most recent visit not only presentation has considerably declined but the quality/flavor of the food is not worth the hefty price nor the long waits. It took us 1 1/2 hour to get a table on a Saturday for a date night. My steak tips were plated separately from the green beans and the mash potatoes which not only was odd but unappealing and only the mash potatoes was flavorful, tips were a bit bland but cooked properly. The staff was very friendly (waitress and busboy) specially, I would chose making the drive to Toro since is worth the drive, the price and the wait. Update: Made the mistake to dine here again for my mom’s birthday (not by choice), and never again! Hostesses were rude and service was horrible…meat was not cooked as ordered for most of the guests, some with flavor others bland. Got interrupted several times when food was handled over our heads or over our people’s shoulders. Although it was mentioned that it was a birthday dinner mom was not even offered a birthday dessert even though other tables did. At the end of the dinner all guests decided not to go back. Just an overall overpriced bad experience, it’s a shame, this place used to be good.

I enjoy coming to this place for an occasional dinner. I think the prices are a little high, but over a good place to eat. The waitstaff is pleasant, and you get bread with oil bowl, and another bowl with black eyed peas in a vinaigrette. It is quite tasty! I notice that some dishes are really delicious or just okay. It really does depend on what you get. I have some cousins that always order the meatball appetizer because it so good, but the baked fish doesn't have much of a presentation or taste. I recently tried the seared scallops with lobster risotto. I was worried because if scallops are not cooked right, they taste awful. To my surprise, they were perfect! The risotto was delicious and there was plenty of lobster in it. I think this place is very good, if you know what to order and what to stay away from. It can be a hit or miss. Some definite hits are the baked stuffed lobster, the sea scallops, and, the meatballs! It is worth trying and seeing what you like for yourself.
