Luke's, A Steak Place — Restaurant in Wheat Ridge

Waiter acted as of we smelled he stood so far away from table when taking our order or setting anything down. I even asked if he had hurt his back or something it was so obvious. He said no just didn't want to get in someones personal space. Very odd! I ordered salmon to have a raw center, medium rare, and other person ordered a hamburger medium well. I also ordered mushrooms in place of the starch/carbs that plate came with. Our meal came, my salmon was medium well and his hamburger was very rare. Took awhile for waiter to come around to check on us. I let him know that they had switched the cooking preferences on our plates and there was no way he was going to eat that hamburger it was literally bleeding all on his plate. So he took his burger (the half he hadn't taken a bite out of) and they cooked it longer. He ended up boxing it up because we had to go. I had already been eating the salmon so told him not going to wait for another to come out. Asked for our bill, I was charged the appetizer price for mushrooms instead of a partial amount being I replaced a side with them. We were looking forward to having a nice dinner before I flew out and honestly would have had better luck going thru a drive thru and having our meal be correct and there in a timely matter. After we left he gave the food to a homeless lady and her family down from this location. It had already turned his stomach when he bit into a raw hamburger. There was no trying to eat it. So a $90 meal...

I've been to Luke's before and it was wonderful. I went last night (sat. 4/13/2013) with some friends, and things started nicely. We were seated in the back section, which was nice. We had attentive service, and when time to order came, I chose a 12 ounce rib eye. Thats one of my favorite cuts, and the size was right, I can't eat so much meat at a time. We had a lovely bottle of wine as well. The warm bread came and was great. then the salad which also was lovely. Dinner arrived and looked nice. The sides I had were very good, blue cheese scalloped potatoes and sautéed spinach. then it was time to taste the steak. it looked good... but thats the end of that. It was tough, almost rubbery, and waaaay overcooked. I asked for medium rare, almost rare. it came easily medium. I was and am sooo disappointed. I don't recall the server then coming to inquire how things were, but my wife has said she did just after we got our food. I'm also disappointed in myself for not saying something there. I should have sent it back. I'm sure they would have made good, but i can't stop thinking how poor it was. I don't know if i'll ever go back there again after this, before I thought this was the best steak place in town. I'm terribly disappointed. I hope you have better luck. I'll probably go over there and speak to them since i couldn't find any way of contacting them on their website and they're not far from...

I really didn't want to put a star up but had to in order to leave a comment as we couldn't get servered. Went there on 2/6/21 arrived at 7:50 on a Friday night, the sign said they closed at 8:30. The look on the ladys face was surprise as we walked in.. This restaurant must not be hurting by covid as they wouldn't serve us, the lady said the restaurant was closed. For as much as restaurants are hurting I would think a restaurant would be open at least untill 9:00 on a Friday night or take any business that comes in the door. This restaurant might have good food but I'll never know.

Thank you for your response, I do appreciate you doing this. I understand the points you brought up and managing a restaurant during this time is difficult. I would suggest to help prevent disappointed potential customers to change closing time to 7:45 or add a comment last seating is at 7:45. When my fiancee and I walked in at 7:50 I did see the sign was flipped to close but thought it was accidentally flipped. Again thank you for you response and offer.
