Dengeos - Buffalo Grove — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

Used to be a customer of this place for years. After our last experience I will NEVER go there again. Decent food, but HORRIBLE customer service experience. Waited 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches, fries and onion rings when the place was very empty. I asked the guy behind the counter to check on our food, he points to a bag sitting on the back counter "oh it's right there", but he doesn't grab it for us. When we finally got someone else to grab our bag of food, the fries and onion rings were ice cold. We pointed this out to the "manager", he felt the bag and said it was warm. We said the fries and onion rings were cold, not the sandwiches. He proceeded to argue with us saying that the bag was was warm. We eventually just asked for our money back since he wasn't going to get us warm fries and onion rings. He then proceeded to have an attitude with us. As he was ringing up the charge back on my card, he had a smirk on his face and was laughing. I asked when the general manager/owner would be in. He said he was the manager and only person above him was the owner. Asked multiple times when the owner would be in, his only response was "speaking to the owner wouldn't do or change anything". 4 days later we're still waiting for the charge back on the card. HIGHLY recommend avoiding this place, not for the quality of food, but for the HORRIBLE service from the manager. If he was indeed a manager, he was probably the owner's son and felt he could do what he wanted.

Edit: I see where the slow service comes from. It took 4 years to respond to this review and no response on Instagram after the owner requested to message them on there so they can rectify the horrible service. I had to file a complaint with my bank to get the refund that Dengeos never refunded. I would guess that the response on here is trying to show others that they are concerned owners.

First time in this place! Shocked after 5 minutes the ribs were cooked in full. walked evening to this location waited for an invited friend and I am very confident their food as always good at Skokie restaurant. I talked with the cashier and mentioned that I am the first time at this location and want to order a full ribs until my friend arrives. Supposed to take at least 15-20 minutes? As soon as I sit down, 5 minutes they called my number 417. I went to the manager and said, I just ordered my food a few minutes ago, which is so fast to cook the ribs! Are the ribs fresh or warmed? The manager of her hands is full of tattoos. She said yes it is fresh. My answer was can you cook it fresh because I'm still waiting for my friend and I don't know what his food yet. The manager kept saying, because we are not busy today it was cooked quickly. Not a good answer. My friend arrived and asked for a chicken sandwich we walked to pick up food when calling the number. The required ribs were showing fresh smoke. I ate and never tasted fresh food but they add a hot barbecue sauce. Garlic bread not fresh too. I went back to the manager and told her the ribs were not fresh. She asked, weren't fresh?I contacted the manager at Skokie directly and because they care about their customers. Really good sandwiches!! I love their cod sandwich, tilapia sandwich, and the grilled chicken is excellent with some tzatziki sauce. Their gyros, Italian beef, and toasted sandwiches are also very good. Their pitas are generally pretty good, but occasionally a little overcooked, but the fillings were great. Their falafel is okay, but not my favorite in the area (Falafel Makers is a little far away, but totally worth the trip if you're in the mood for falafel). I've had one of their burgers, and it was pretty good - I probably wanna get another. I haven't had any of their dinner plates, but they certainly look good (especially their chicken). I'm hoping to stop by a few more times to try more of their menu, as it's also a pretty convenient location if I'm in the neighborhood. Personally, though, I think they're the best place for sandwiches in the immediate area (so much better than the Subway across the street).
