I try not to write reviews; but when I get an experience like this I'm full of emotions. I feel angry, worthless, and dejected. I hate to resort to racism as the cause of bad service so I wait and give every benefit of the doubt for just lackluster service before I conclude I'm being treated a certain way based on the color of my skin. But me and my girlfriend arrived here at 5:10pm tonight and waited 15 minutes before even getting our order taken. Maybe racism, maybe not. Then I watched as the table behind us who were seated just minutes before us had their drinks before us and we still haven't even gotten water yet. Maybe racism, maybe not. But then a white family of 4 who was seated at 5:35pm got their orders taken and immediately was served water. At that point I was convinced. Racism! The waitress and owner proceeded to give me a list of excuses and lies including but not limited to: "we usually serve the drinks and water at the same time." When I asked why literally every other table I observed not follow that rule the was no explanation. Sadness is also an emotion I feel because this was my first Tiki bar experience and I was really looking forward...
Read moreI love tiki bars. I always go to different tiki bars and this place was wonderful! They use all fresh juices - no premade mixers - in their drinks, so they are delicious! They have a huge menu of cocktails and they are presented in their own special way. Special cup, umbrella, garnish, etc that ties to each drink. The interior is classic tiki and well done. They have the traditional various tiki lamps/lights lights hanging from the ceiling. We went right when they opened on a Saturday evening and they filled up quick. The drinks are more expensive than a regular bar or pub. Ours were around $16 per drink. Which is standard pricing for a tiki bar. It's what you will pay at any good tiki place. Again - they use all fresh juice and the drinks are labor intensive. We ordered pizza. I loved the beer crust. I also love that they allow kids before 8pm ( I think that's the cut-off) I have teen children - 16 and 18 years old. I love that I can share places like this with them. They loved the mocktails and the pizza. I have been to several tiki bar restaurants that are 21 and up - which I get - but it was nice having a place where we can go...
Read moreFirst visit at the urging of some friends. Nice spot, wildly popular with the tiki fanatics for good reason - decor is spot on and in many cases authentic, drinks are varied with a little something for everyone, and the vibe is one of relaxation. The thin crust pizza is delicious, I will have to return to try the ultra-thin! Prices are what you'd expect to pay and on par with similar venues. Service is fantastic, quality shines through across the board. I look forward to returning, but also offer two cautions: First, as you'll see in other reviews, parking is tight. Far less parking available than patrons. Great that they're so popular, but not sure where else you might be able to park nearby if the lot is full. Second, once you've paid your bill, don't be surprised if you're asked to move to the lounge or leave. Apparently we lingered a little too long for their liking. Bad end to a great visit, turning tables is obviously a management priority. Still, I will go back and I will keep in mind that we need to keep drinking until the...
