La Presa Restaurant — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

Walked in today and it was really busy which im assuming its because of taco Tuesday. I had to wait in line to ask for a table for two because there was nobody greeting at the front so we didn't know if we could just sit or wait to be seated. The table I was sitting at had a QR code for the menu but it was all faded so I couldn't even see the menu and the waitress still proceeded to ask what I wanted expecting me to know what is on the menu ? Then I had ordered specifically shrimps without sauce (the simple salt and pepper with jalapeño shrimps) but when she brought my food it seems like she told me every single plate of shrimp here has sauce so I told her I didn't want that because thats not what I expected to receive when I ordered my food. This restaurant is not like any other normal restaurant that will fix your food if you are upset with it or dislike something about it. It seems like the restaurant charges their employees for the plate if its wrong or if the customer doesn't like it because they wouldn't let me deny the food. I had kindly told the waitress and the cashier that I didn't not want the plate and that I hadn't even touched it but they still made me pay for it. So overall I was really upset with the service at this restaurant and probably wont come back...

Nastiest service I've ever had, I'm in disbelief. Gringos not welcome here. I was 'greeted' by a woman with a nasty scowl on her face at 9pm. I smiled at her and very politely asked her how her day was, figuring she had a long day. She pretended not to understand me, says 'no ingles' and did not offer me a seat. I grew up in the hood, I knew the game from that point on and stayed because I was hungry. I awkwardly sat in the booth next to where she was standing. I was looking over the menu (which is big) for about 2 or 3 minutes and she comes out and says in clear English "the kitchen is closing in 5 mins can you please place your order now" (an hour before they close). I was rushed into ordering steak tacos I didn't really want. She brings out my soda in a can with no cup or ice. Drops my meal on the table edge and walked away. The beans smelled terrible and the steak taco meat was dry, but I really wasn't expecting much at 9pm. A man walked in after me. I guess the kitchen wasn't closed after all... I saw him eating his meal as I was leaving. Did not see the waitress again until I asked for the check. The only positive note, the dining room appeared...

The place has great Mexican food, specially their tacos are top notch. I visited this place for the first time with my kids and the kids loved the soft tacos. They were over the moon when they ate the tacos.

The restaurant is fairly large and plenty of tables to choose from. The staff and the wateriest who greeted us were super nice and welcoming.

The kids had lots of fun and enjoyed their dinner visit. Very nice background music at the time of our visit which was a nice addition when with the kids.

At the time of this post, it has been over a week since we visited this place and the kids are asking to visit this restaurant for dinner again.

The only downside, this business has been at this location for a long time and we live near by for over 10 years, but we have never seen this place even though we pass by it every day. I guess the way the buildings built it is not an eye catching place when driving. We were introduced to this restaurant by my kid’s friend who was our guest the day we went to...
