To sum it up: Great place, great food, great employees!

This was the first time my wife and I visited Mr. Kimchi at Randhurst Mall in Mt. Prospect. We drove past a few times and always wanted to go in. This time we made it!

We ordered the regular all-you-can-eat BBQ as I am not much of a seafood fan, which is one of the prime ingredients of the premium all-you-can-eat BBQ choice. For the meat, we chose the beef brisket, spicy pork, and garlic pork belly in the first go - the order listed here reflecting our preference of taste. On the side we had the egg casserole and fried veggie dumplings.

Our server, Billy, was very attentive and spot-on with his suggestions. For example, he asked us "Which meat did you like most?" and suggested the soy marinated pork rib then when we answered, which both of us loved.

The ingredients are very fresh and very high quality. This is an all-you-can-eat place and at times such places reduce the quality to be able to justify lower prices - not so Mr. Kimchi! The quality was really exceptional!

Additionally, the drinks were great, too! The OB Premier Pilsner I had, which was suggested by our server Billy of course, was spot-on and for me, as being of German heritage, a great beer to have. We finished our lunch with two Mai Tais, which, again, were of high quality. Many times we had cocktails in other places where the alcohol was almost completely absent to keep the costs low, but not so at Mr. Kimchi where quality prevails and where the amount of alcohol was great and as it should be!

So, both me and my wife really liked Mr. Kimchi and had a great time with some quality food and superb atmosphere. Mr. Kimchi is one of the great places to remember and we'll be...

I’ll give an honest review of the newer Mr Kimchi location. Some of these 1 star reviews are laughable because they sound almost fake. First of all, the staff is not racist, I’m not sure why people pull the race card at a restaurant. To give you an idea, my group was Asian and Hispanic and we got seated within a couple mins. We came on a Saturday night. It wasn’t too busy. I took a picture but they have a regular and premium for the ayce. You might as well get the premium for $5 more.

Yes, there is service and the food has taste. Our server came often to check up on us and ask if we needed anything. He was very patient with our requests. They give you banchan but there are additional sides if you look at the menu. I recommend getting bulgogi, Mr steak, galbi, beef thin intestine only if you can cook it correctly, Cajun pork belly, kfc chicken, and egg casserole. The corn cheese was good but I didn’t like that it was hard to scoop. The bottom of the corn was too tough and melted. The meats were all tasty but some of the the pork belly’s had more fat than meat. Pricing is fair for ayce. I’ve been to many kbbq’s. Overall 4.5.

It’s noted on the website that 18% gratuity will be added to ayce, lettuce wrap is $3.50, and white rice is $2. To the ignorant people that are surprised you have to cook the food yourself, I suggest you just stick...

1st time was a great experience that's why we decided to come back! 2nd time back and here's my review:

Food - we did the regular AYCE Korean BBQ. It was ok. Meat was good but the sides dishes were mediocre. I say that because the Japchae and kimchi were DRY. Egg casserole and fried chicken is a must try. The Suntory old fashioned was good but would've been better wIth less ice or one big ice cube.

Service - Julie (and her partner) were attentive and pleasant. My biggest complain is the hostess. We got there around 420p (party of 2). Another party of 2 got there AFTER us and got seated BEFORE us!!! Props to those individuals (seated before us)because they even told/asked the hostess, "that couple was here first, they should be seated first!". The hostess didn't acknowledge that statement. The other host saw my expression and proceeded to tell us they are still cleaning and setting a table for us. 10 mins later we finally got seated. I'm just curious as to why we got seated second when we were there first?! (Main reason for my 2 stars. That pleasantry at the door is important, it sets the mood for your experience!)

Ambiance - modern, low lighting, fun environment.

tip - automatic 18% gratuity...
