04.07.2024 our recent visit to Blackfinn had both positive and negative aspects. On one hand, the meals were excellent. We had the Chicken Quesadillas, Sausage and Pepperoni Flatbread (which featured pepperoni, sweet sausage, homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh basil), and Shrimp and Garlic Pasta (sauteed shrimp, garlic, white wine, fresh basil, diced tomatoes, and linguine pasta in a lemon butter sauce). The flavors were delightful, and the ingredients tasted fresh and well-prepared.
However, the service, particularly from our waitress Lindsey, left much to be desired. Throughout our meal, we experienced several issues that detracted from our overall dining experience. Firstly, despite our empty glasses, Lindsey did not offer or bring another refill of coke, which is a basic aspect of dining service that was overlooked. Secondly, after our entrees were delivered by a food runner, Lindsey did not check back with us to inquire about the food or if we needed anything else, leaving us feeling neglected.
Furthermore, upon requesting to-go boxes, there was no offer of coffee or dessert, which is a missed opportunity for additional service and a common courtesy that was overlooked. It's worth noting that the restaurant was not particularly busy, so there was no apparent reason for such oversight. In fact, Lindsey was observed chatting with another server under a TV in the corner, clearly not preoccupied with customer service.
It's disappointing when inattentive service mars an otherwise promising dining experience. The lapses in basic service etiquette significantly impacted our overall experience at Blackfinn. Even our food runner had to drop off the crushed red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese, which should have been handled by our waitress. Despite the excellent food, the subpar service left a lasting negative impression. It is my hope that this review serves as constructive feedback, leading to improved service for future patrons.
Miss Lindsey's demeanor when interacting with customers left much to be desired. Her manner of speaking and overall attitude came across as quite off-putting and unwelcoming. It seemed as though she was carrying a chip on her shoulder, which negatively impacted the dining experience.
While it's possible that other patrons may have noticed this behavior, they might have been hesitant to voice their concerns openly. However, I believe it's important to provide honest feedback, even if it may be uncomfortable, in order to address issues that can significantly affect customer satisfaction. It's crucial for servers in the hospitality industry to maintain a friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor when interacting with guests. Miss Lindsey's apparent lack of enthusiasm and negative attitude not only detracted from our personal dining experience but also reflected poorly on the...
Read moreFood is great but they have the lowest IQ spoiled entitled servers there. If you want to wait 30 minutes for the drinks and food when the place is empty 10 customers or less then this is your spot. The owner mgr is a great guy I can't say the same for his A Karen's that will never find another job who the place is stuck with. My advice would be to owner is go find a edison park bar where you could find a daytime employee who can run everything for you from the bar to the serving it's not that big of a place where one person can't bartend and serve food. I think anyone with experience serving and bartending at a Chicago bar could work here and increase the revenue through customer service that is standard in edison park to stay open with customers. You have McDonald's workers serving there and the only 2 ppl who are great there is the Irish bartender that fills in and the owners mom who helps out sitting ppl and the owner mgs who cooks excellent food trust me send family to spy on Edison park bars and go upgrade those employees one serious motivated server can run that bar and serve ppl anybody can seat them those seating girls should attempt to keep ppl near each other in the bar vs spreading them out all over the freaking place close the patio for Pete's sake too unless...
Read moreMy wife and I had dinner here the other night before catching a movie at the theater down the street.
It's a sizable place with two big rooms. When you enter, there's a host stand to your right and a bar area to your left. We sat in the dining area on the right side of the restaurant. There's an initial door to enter from the outside and then there's a door behind the host stand that opens into the dining room, but was propped open.
The problem with propping this door open was that every time someone walked in or out of the restaurant, a cold breeze blew through the dining room and chilled us. People were sitting in their jackets.
We told our server that we were catching a movie as she took our orders. Our food came out quickly and was very good. My wife got the turkey burger and I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich. We both got fries.
We both liked our sandwiches very much as both were very tasty. Our server refilled my soda a couple times and checked on us after we had a couple bites of our meals (which is unheard of nowadays as most servers I have come across ask me about my meal as I'm finishing it). The food runners were also very helpful in bringing extras.
It's a great place to hit up for night out with the family, the guys, or to grab a bite...
