So about Palm Court. If you're into trendy fusion or Michelin stars, this is not the place for you. However, if you find old school charm, well, charming, then Palm Court is right up your alley. As soon as I stepped inside, I felt like I stepped back in time to an upscale 1960s Vegas restaurant where I could easily imagine the Rat Pack sitting in a high back, plushly cushioned half circle booth, drinking martinis and enjoying the swing band. Okay, so there wasn't a big band performing tonight but the vocalist (complete with a french twist, ruby lipstick, and a red satin dress) fit the bill just fine. And the food? Oof. Very, very good! I started with the french onion soup. There was no gruyere baked over the top but the crouton was good and the soup was the perfect balance of beef and slightly crispy onion flavours. I chose the filet medallions topped with artichoke hearts and béarnaise for my main. Suffice it to say I happily ate every bite! Against my better judgment, I ordered dessert - chocolate mousse. I wasn't actually hungry. I really just wanted to see if they'd serve it in a martini glass. They didn't. Boo! But it tasted lovely, though it wasn't quite as smooth as I'd hoped it would be. Still! I probably ate 1/3 of it before my stomach said, "no more!" I'm tasting my way around Chicagoland's steakhouses - this one did not disappoint!

The choice to come here was not ours. Went along with a large group. They put us in a room that looked like a VFW hall or an old folks home. No decoration, bad lighting, long tables and other large groups. Pros: the gin Martinis, the Manhattans, the Cosmos. The staff was attentive though not necessarily to detail. They served a plate to all but one in our party and didn't notice. Cons: The food. Everyone left substantial amounts of food on their plates. My husband ordered a cheeseburger hoping it would be safe. It sucked. Dry and overcooked despite asking for medium rare. Said it tasted like a frozen patty. He didn't finish it. The whitefish, which 3 people got, was "fishy", heavy and not good. All left more than half on their plates. I somehow had the best entrée. I specifically asked the waitress what the best thing on the menu was. She said the coconut curry mahi Mahi. It was Mahi Mahi and there was a coconut sauce, but it tasted nothing like curry, whi h was fine by me. More of a roasted red pepper. It was actually delicious. Needless to say we won't be going here ever again. A huge disappointment overall. And will most certainly look up reviews for large group dinners beforehand and vet the place just as we do when we dine for two.

my family and i a party of 9 went to palm court last night may 8th to celebrate mothers day and the first time we have been able to celebrate together the first time in a year we arrived at 5:00 got seated right away once the server came to our table she asked us for drink orders she kinda saw of looking and her because she was not wearing a mask (we had noticed that everyone else there was wearing a mask) she responded to us by saying I have been vaccinated kinda cocky (well she should have assumed maybe not everyone at our table was not we had two children who have not because they are not old enough) she was in such a hurry we ordered several appitizers and she walked away before we were done so when she came back we told her we needed to order more appitizers when she returned to the table she had a childs packet with a coloring book and crayons which was very nice she brought one to the table and naturally the 2 kids ages 5 and 1 wanted to play with it so we asked her if she could bring another one and we were told no that the kids had to share. Again we let that remark go. So next we placed our food order and it was brought out to us and I noticed that on my plate i had ordered the twiced baked potato so i told her that she gave me a baked potato not a twiced baked she kinda brushed it off so i repeated it thinking maybe she didnt hear me and her response was I heard you. So anyway our me our food was great. So on to the next when we were ready to order our dessert we asked her if we could place an order for dinner to go as one of our quest had to cancel at the last minute and again she looked at us and said No it would take to long and look at the table over there they have not even got there food yet these were her exact words to us so we just kinda sat there wilth our mouths dropped open and she walked away when she came back we said we are not doing take out tonight and I tell the truth again her exact words. So we ordered our dessert and then asked for our check which she promptly brought. So my husband paid the bill and gave the server a 150.00 dollar tip he was kinda unaware of what went down at the other end of the table. So when she came back to the table she was all smiles and happy and friendly because of her tip I quess. The food was excellent at the restaurant and would go back. But I really think this server is bad for there business and management should be aware of this situation. Sorry for the long posted but needed to get this...

1.0 star rating If I could leave 0 stars I would. We came here for their Thanksgiving menu and not a single plate was served correctly. Here's our breakdown of what we ordered and how it was served.

-surf and turf medium - Steak was served completely raw in the center

-12oz filet medium with scallops - Steak was completely raw in the center and scallops were cold with no Crust on them

top sirloin well done - there was a thick Crust of charcoal on the outside and the Steak inside wouldn't even cut through with a knife it was so dry

beef wellington - completely dry in the center

rack of lamb - did not even taste like lamb and smelled really bad

We politely asked the waitress to take the underdone meat back and cook it more and she did and asked to take back the beef wellington and well done Steak because we did not want them but still said we would pay for them. She brought back the medium steaks and they were still not cooked to medium. She brought back the well done Steak and rudely asked "now what's wrong with this one?" Even though it was visibly cooked to death. My husband and sister in law were trying to explain to the waitress why we were not satisfied with the meal and my brother in law not wanting to deal with the mess went to the manager, explained what was wrong and paid the entire $600 bill. My husband went through the bill when he got back and noticed they charged us almost $100 mandatory gratuity. My husband went up to the manager and explained what happened and why at least the gratuity should be removed and the manager all but threw the bill back in his face and yelled "its mandatory, you have to pay it" while ushering him away. I have never experienced such poor service in my life especially for a resturaunt with that price point. So disappointing. Resturaunts should not serve holiday meals if they cannot accommodate

*AFTER OWNER REPLY:

That is a complete lie. As soon as my brother in law had paid for the food you guys stopped any attempt to rectify because your just wanted your money. Not a single plate was left more than 1/4 finished and no boxes were taken home and yet not a single thing was removed from the bill or brought back correctly cooked yet we still had to pay $100 in gratuity. I understand you are away from your families for this, but if you cannot accommodate hosting holiday meals you...

REVISED following our Thanksgiving disaster. A complete disaster and a terrible Thanksgiving Evening for my family that was costly. I think I would rather stick needles in my eyes before I ever return to Palm Court again. We are 40+ year repeat customers. Our party of 7 do understand the challenges of a holiday (this was Thanksgiving Dinner 2019) however, our dinner experience was completely unacceptable. Palm Court was so over booked, it was not manageable. There was literally no place to go or sit. Probably a safety hazard as well. We understand a half our wait but a full hour. We dine at Morton's, Shaw's, Gibson's and never had an experience like this. While we still had a considerable wait last Thanksgiving at Palm Court 2018, it went off pretty flawlessly and the meals were phenomenal and the waitress outstanding which is why we returned. Once seated, we had an extremely rude waitress. We asked for 2 checks since the challenges of divvying up a check with drinks, appetizers, tip and tax can be frustrating. She immediately responded in a loud response - NO SEPARATE CHECKS. That pretty much set the tone for the evening. Our orders were not only wrong but also steak that I wouldn't even feed my dog. My mother had ordered the 2 smaller filet dinner 4 oz each. She received a full fillet that was overcooked. While the waitress replaced the meal, the next one came out completely charred and overcooked. She wasn't able to eat it. The prime rib was the worst meal I have ever had. (case in point - go to Gibson's). We had a charred and overcooked (ordered RARE) and it was a knotted mess we were not able to cut with a steak knife. That too was replaced but far beyond what prime rib should be. While I hate to give a bad review, all 7 members of our family felt the same and I'm sure other customers as well. Big waste of over $350.00 Logistics and meals need a much improvement. They have also raised prices but simply could not deliver. We deserve a few free meals. I would have let this go had the food been good but between service, wait time and very poor meals - it was just an unacceptable situation. Others who dined at Capital Grille did not encounter what so many others went through Thanksgiving evening at Palm Court. Last year's PC visit was 5 stars. This year is a zero unfortunately. Here are...
