I liked the interior of this restaurant, bright, white painted brick walls, mid-century reproduction light fixtures. We had a group of 4 on Saturday afternoon. Not busy, tables were less than 1/4 full of patrons. Easy parking. Several waiters standing around waiting for customers. Our waitress was in a hurry to take our order so we quickly reviewed the menu and put our orders in. Food did not all come out at the same time, some in my party waited a bit while the others ate. Then the waitress disappeared. Like literally disappeared. No check, we had to ask at the front. But the worst part was the food, this is the type of restaurant where you go to eat and leave hungry because the portions of so small. For example, the "thick french toast" was just 2 pieces of what looked like Wonder Bread. 2 pieces. This is where having a good wait staff is important, I appreciate when a waitress/waiter tells me that I should probably do a double order of something or add a second dish because the portions are very small at the restaurant. Not a place I would go back to. I can see why this restaurant was not busy on a Saturday. There are alot of better...
Read moreI’ve been to multiple Brunch Cafe locations and never really had an issue with the food, maybe the service but never the food but this morning I tried the Arlington Heights location and probably the most saltiest food I’ve tasted. The potatoes were extremely salty and since there were potatoes in my scrambled egg, it made it impossible to eat it and caused me an instant headache. My husband got the steak and gravy and his steak tasted old. My plate came with toast and so I asked for French toast and the server brought me the signature French toast while I only wanted a regular one and then upcharged me for it. I understand that the server was new and that is why when she brought the food, I told her that’s not usually what they serve me and she said oh it was only a dollar more for my order but in reality it was a lot more. I left without finishing my food. Just a bad...
Read moreWe’ve been regular customers of this place, but after today’s visit, we don’t want to come back. We came for breakfast, timing it so our baby would sleep in the stroller and we could eat in peace. Instead, we waited about 20 minutes while everyone who arrived after us was seated almost immediately. The reason- “the stroller would block the walkway.” We understand this could be inconvenient, but a little courtesy would have been enough. Especially since there was an empty room where we could have been seated right away-and in the end, that’s exactly where we were seated, but only after a long wait. Instead of a polite explanation, the hostess had an irritated tone, tossed the menus on the table, and walked away. Great food and friendly servers don’t make up for rude treatment...
