If you come to Wheeling forget anywhere you thought you were gonna eat at and come to Avenue Eats. I was floored my first time dining here.

I ordered the gouda burger with fries, a cappuccino, and two mixed drinks: the Zen Garden(spirit-free) as well as the Kokomo.

I don't know if I've ever had a burger at a restaurant like the gouda burger from Avenue Eats. Everything from the patty to the spinach was delicious. The patty itself was cooked perfectly medium-rare and was fresh and juicy. Its one of those things you just have to have one to understand. It tasted like homemade.

The fries here, crispy and potayoey - is that a word? It is now! I had to pick every piece of crisp off my plate they were so good.

As for the drinks, the coffee beans are locally roasted from Tacet Coffee here in Wheeling. Lovely foamy milk. Yum!

The Zen Garden stays true to its name - very minty and refreshing. The yuzu was a surprising and much appreciated addition to the drink and really helped bring all of the flavors together. Each sip felt blissful. The Kokomo was just as good. Very pina colado vibes and tropical.

The restaurant is a half of the Waterfront Hall, an event space/music venue and overall intimate. I have not seen a show here but I imagine it would be amazing as a love smaller venues. The whole space has a rustic decor.

Other details: This food place is seat yourself, you order your food at the food counter and they will serve the food to your table. You will also order any beverages you want from the bar. It is also wheel-chair...

One of my favorite places to eat over the past three years. I typically order sloppy joe, teriyaki tempeh tacos, one of the many salads, a burger, pub pretzels or soup of the day. Recently I had their kale and sausage soup and it was nothing short of delicious! It was cream based with a little bit of kick(I believe from the type of sausage used) and a little bit of pepper flavor. My opinion-even people who don't typically eat kale could like this soup. The kale wasn't overwhelming and took to the background amongst other flavors and ingredients. I've had their cappuccino cupcake and it was devine. Their cupcakes are often talked about. Their beer selection is quite nice. Not enourmous but they have a little bit of craft, little bit of IPA, little bit of import and one domestic which is Miller lite. If you are an exclusive domestic drinker their selection might not be to your liking, but otherwise I think you'll be pleased. Their outdoor seating is nice and their indoor seating is as well. The restaurant is on the smaller side so if you are looking for a table for ten, it might be challenging and a little bit of a wait. They don't have designated parking so my best advice is to park along the street in front of the restaurant or on the street parallel to the building. There is also a parking lot a few buildings up from the restaurant designated for the plaza where people including myself park and so far it has worked well. Cheers...

AMAZING.

I was looking for a good place to try on our trip from Indianapolis to Pittsburgh, and I saw this place had good reviews, so I thought I'd try it. Boy am I glad I did! Food was DELICIOUS. I found out toward the end of the meal that they make all their dressings and sauces in house, and I am a sauce guy, and the bbq sauce they gave me was great. But what really stood out was the burger - every ingredient cooked and combined to near-perfection. Carmelized onions - oh wow - such good flavor, and excellent texture too! Cheese (particularly the gouda) - a generous amount and oh so melty and delicious. Mushrooms - cut and cooked and seasoned delightfully! Bacon - quality - THICK and crispy! Bun? Buttered and toasted just right... and of course, the patty - oh man, excellent crispiness on top and bottom, super flavorful and moist, cooked an excellent medium-rare doneness as well. Plus the fries were delicious as well!

And, they place was charming, and the staff was great as well! Waited about 5 minutes fo . Table, and our burgers (and fries and salad) were out about 10 minutes after we ordered them!

Do yourself a favor and check this place out! It's only about a 2-minute drive off I-70 (and they do have carry-out as well).

We will...

This was our first visit. I googled good places to eat in Wheeling, because we aren't too familiar with the area. The inside was small, but they use the space well. There is also outdoor seating for days when it is nice out. We tried the fries with gravy, and my husband and I both enjoyed them. I had the breakfast burger. It comes with a maple aioli. Sort of like a maple mayo. The burger was outstanding! This was out of my comfort zone. U would normally have them hold the aioli. She put it on the side for me, so I could try it before committing to have it on my entire burger. It almost tasted like a burger and french toast at the same time! We also took three of their gourmet cupcakes with us! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a chance to stop by. Cute atmosphere and friendly servers, too.

First of all, since when is Wheeling cool!? I went to The Waterfront Hall to see a show. Shout out to Matt VanFossen, the rising star!!! The Avenue Eats menu looks awesome! We got the pretzels, a burger and the caprese sandwich. Everything was soooo good! I wanted to try the pizza, but it's definitely an excuse to visit again! We were confused on how things worked, but the staff was so friendly and showed us what to do! You order, get a number, get drinks at the bar and then a staff member will bring your food to your table. They were pretty busy, so seating was very limited. We got lucky snagging a table as soon as a few people got up! The food was very quick! Atmosphere was on point! Overall, a very cool spot! Definitely a little hidden gem! It makes me so happy to see Wheeling coming back to life!!
