I just learned of this restaurant as I don't live nearby... I made a special trip so I could grab a country fried steak breakfast take-out to surprise a good friend with it, as he had mentioned he hadn't had one in a very long time. Got one for myself so I'd know what it was. Fast forward to feedback - really delicious! I loved the flavor and texture, it will become one of my personal favorites that I'll order again, and will absolutely go out of my way on a half hour drive to sit down next time and sample more of their foods. I also took a quart of cabbage soup home as well as a veggie omelet. What's important to know is that I called at 2pm, aware that they closed at 3pm, to ask what the last order time was before closing. I spoke with owner, Linda, who cheerfully told me 10 minutes was all that was needed, and she was happy to fulfill all my indulgent food fantasies up to 10 minutes before closing! Of course it's a different dynamic to receive personal exclusive service so close to closing time... Linda and husband Nick were finishing up tasks for the day and prepping for the next day. You could tell they're quintessential professionals who love their livelihood, their restaurant and their clientele... you can't miss it as it shows in their attentive personalized customer service, even at closing time. Where many a chef or food handler in other establishments would be counting down the seconds when they could perhaps finally bolt out, not Nick and Linda. The whole experience exceeded my expectations for a last minute order at closing time, especially with 3 combination dishes cooked exactly to order, plus that quart of homemade soup made fresh that morning, which is exactly how it tasted! Not as if it sat in a pot all day and I got served the dregs scraped out of the bottom... not even close! It was very tasty, crunchy, packed with flavor, it tasted just like I perceived it must have when their doors opened! I never felt any rush - no prodding to hurry up, pay, get outta here - instead, they treated me as if I had arrived at the start of business for the day, which I assume is the breakfast rush due to their excellent quality, phenomenal flavors and very generous serving sizes. I had ample leftovers of everything, all of which tasted as good reheated as it did when I had my first fresh bite of it to go! Portion sizes are very generous, so much so I had 2 additional servings left over after consuming the original! Not to mention there was no loss of superior flavor with every reheat... you know they use quality ingredients & premium spices, clearly they are skilled in the art of precisely how to prepare. Glad I finally discovered Brunch- better late than never- but I am kinda mad at myself having missed like10 years of delectable dining. Rest assured I took a to-go menu home with me so I can strategically plan how to make up for lost time and eat my way through all the savory choices! In fact, I'm now fantasizing about my next dish, which I intend to pursue without fail, allowing ample time before closing! Linda and Nick are so awesome, I'm sure they'd graciously accommodate me like they did this time, but I'm not gonna do that to them. Sadly, my next visit will just have to wait until the next time I'm in the area with time to spare so that I can sit down and savor all the deliciousness served here! Thank you...
Read moreMy fiancée and I tried this place today and honestly the whole experience was not great.
The front door was open so it was fairly hot in there (even with a fan going…), with the door being open flies got in and they were pestering us nonstop.
My fiancée got a corn beef and cheese omelet, pancakes and an English muffin, with coffee. The creamer for the coffee had a weird smell to it and the coffee, Itself was just not very good. The pancakes were over cooked. They had the cheese on the outside of both omelets and they just didn’t look appealing, at all.
I got a country omelet with hash browns and toast. The sausage gravy that came on it was nothing I’ve ever seen or tasted before… definitely would NOT recommend anyone get their gravy (i saw another review about the gravy…) aside from that, the hash browns were basically inedible. They were overcooked and tasted like “old oil” as my fiancée put it.
Aside from the food, the service was ok, the waitress never asked how the meal was (even when taking the remainder of the food when we were finished). We were charged an extra dollar for the English muffin, she pointed out on the menu that it “costs” more than toast when we asked her about it but it was never told to us before hand.
I used a $50 gift card, the total was $36.31, I left a $6 tip (normally I’d leave the remaining money from the gift card to them but with the food and service I couldn’t bring myself to do that. Lol) I decided to call the card to see how much money I had left. (It should’ve been $7.69 but the balance is $6.43, which means instead of getting charged 42.31 like I should’ve been, I got charged $43.57.
Overall just not a great experience and we probably won’t...
Read moreWe were looking for something to eat after an early morning dentist appointment and found this place unexpectedly. The place was almost full so we figured it would be a good choice. Although they were visibly busy, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and then we took a seat at one of the last available tables. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
They have the typical diner set up with the open kitchen. There was only one women cooking and with us waiting not even 10 minutes for our food with a full restaurant, we thought she was doing a great job! She even came onto the floor once she had cleared the tickets on the board to take the time to ask each table if they were enjoying their food and thank us for coming in. Later we found out she was the owner! Super impressive!
If you’re looking for great little dinner with great food and awesome service then I’d recommend trying this place out!
P.S. they have delicious corned beef hash and homemade shredded...
