My girlfriend and I have visited all of the major restaurants in Conshohocken and both agreed that we will be back!
We had a reservation for 6:30pm on a Friday night. We arrived just before 6:30 and were seated promptly. The hostess was very kind, chatting with us on our way over to the table. The decor inside of the restaurant is beautiful! Nice colors, nice floral accents, and a lot beautiful wood showcasing the natural inside of the restaurant. Our table was perhaps a little small for the two of us, but we made it work.
We started with two delicious cocktails from the bar. My girlfriend had the white peach sangria which was had a nice peach hint without being too sweet. I had a strawberry based cocktail with tequila in it which tasted fresh with a nice pop. Overall, both the inside and the outdoor bar are highly impressive and invoke a nice atmosphere of sophistication.
We equally loved the food. We started with the fish tacos as an appetizer and we simply loved them! The batter was crispy and the fish was tender as could be! Paired with a delicious aioli and coleslaw, this starter was just the right combination of hot and mild. For our main course we shared a Detroit style pizza. The sauce was easily the star of the show on this pizza, it was well balanced and flavorful, very authentic. We ordered a side of fried as well, however, we weren't overly impressed the by the fries, they were under-salted and rather boring, but were crispy. We took the brownie to go and were impressed by its richness. It is advertised as a fudgey brownie and that it is, so if you aren't into that texture, maybe it won't be for you.
Overall, we look forward to coming back and trying new things here! I would love to see more clearly marked vegetarian options as well as clear markings for vegan dishes to assist those...
Read moreI wish we could review the food, but we can not. We called at 8:32 from the Schuylkill Expressway to find out if we were allowed to have our dog at the outside seating because it was getting late and we were having trouble finding someplace with outdoor seating open in 95 degree weather (and obviously we cannot leave the dog in the car in that kind of heat). The answer was yes! Very relieved, I told them we were on our way. Google Maps listed the hours as open until 10 and having been verified by the business 3 weeks ago. When we arrived 23 minutes later (8:55), we were told that the kitchen was closed because it closed at 9. The sign on the door confirmed it: kitchen only open 4-9, Mon thru Sat, written in dry erase marker on laminated paper. Doesn't that seem like something to tell people calling from the road at 8:32 when they state their intention to come for dinner? So, now we ended up wasting time, and by the time we got to the next possibility (PJ Welihans in Conshy), they had just closed their outside seating. If only Daisy hadn't answered the phone. But, it saved us money because we ended up eating wawa hoagies in the wawa parking lot instead. Money saved that we will spend elsewhere another dat, not here. Small Businesses changing their hours on a whim and not considering customers' time to be important enough to communicate it is a huge pet peeve of mine. I have no interest in checking this place out now.
Hours written in dry erase marker and not matching what they told google three weeks earlier. Yup, that says it all right there. Why should I expect them to communicate it during...
Read moreMy coworker friends and I went to Daisy Tavern for the first time yesterday. We were celebrating a project and having a “goodbye” dinner to several of us leaving the team. The food, atmosphere and service were all great… UNTIL our last half hour. Most of our table was still eating & drinking, and all of a sudden we could tell that our server was trying to rush us out. A couple of us did actually order a few more drinks, and then our server came and dropped off the check. Never in my 40+ yrs of frequenting restaurants have I ever felt so completely dismissed! As we continued to sip on our last drinks the server literally came up to us and said she had another reservation and needed us to leave. Again… in all my years, this has NEVER happened! I worked in restaurants for over 15 yrs myself as I was growing up, and I never told any party that they needed to leave. In this instance, I could have understood if the server or manager had explained nicely, and perhaps offered us another seat somewhere or a complimentary drink or anything of that nature. But instead we felt it was a big, “get out of here… we need your table!” Up until this point we were having a lovely time and I was excited to tell others at our office what a great place it was. But now they’ll only hear about how we were literally kicked out and I doubt this place will ever get our...
