There have been some recent issues with the teens at the basketball courts listening to loud music with profanity.
They seem like good kids, so I reached out to the park and asked that a park attendant just have a friendly chat with them about minding their language in an area where small children are playing.
They were quick to respond that they will monitor the situation and have a polite conversation with the teens. Though they did provide the non emergency number for the local police, I would never involve law enforcement over some kids being kids. Especially when police officers are known to scare and unnecessarily escalate minor issues, just by their mere presence. That may not be the case in this town, but I have not lived here long. I would not want to risk traumatizing these kids over something as minor as bad language.
That said, I hope this will be resolved soon and we can all feel comfortable bringing our young children...
