We came here as a family of 4 with 2 young children. We got here for an early dinner so seating was quick. There's so much to talk about because its worth mentioning.
Service We were immediately greeted by the host and she was very accommodating to our kids. She offered to check the outdoor seating and even engaged with our kids to give them the option where we should sit. Our waitress Julia was excellent. Very welcoming, friendly and engaging with our kids. Our oldest was not in a good mood initially but after sometime and with Julia be very kind and engaging, our oldest enjoyed her meal. Julia also did an excellent job with suggestions, checking in on us, refilling our water and packing up our food. I felt like we were at a resort and it was some of the best service I havent had in awhile (in the U.S. that is).
Food We started with chicken tinga nachos. Delicious! Perfect blend of munester, meat and beans. Topped with delicious cotido and drizzled sour cream. Hubs ordered beef tacos. Now, typically restaurants would double wrap with tortillas because they use raggedy tortillas. This however was REAL TORTILLAS. Yellow, soft and great flavor that were not overly thin. The smell was phenomenal and remind me of my grandma in Honduras. I ordered the chicken and beef molacajete bowl. Delicious! Came with the meat, chorizo, cheese, cactus and the amazing tortillas. The side options were street corn or Brussels sprouts. I opted for Brussels sprouts and they were perfectly crisped, topped with cheese and great flavor. My daughter shared it with me and enjoyed them as well. My son had chicken milanese and my daughter had the chicken taquitos which they both liked.
Atmosphere The place was nicely decorated, modern but with nice cultural elements that you couldnt tell you were by a main road. The big open doors to the outside area and the surrounding trees made it feel very exclusive and comfortable. The music selection was great and I would definitely revisit with some girlfriends or my husband if we are in the area again.
Overall, this place I give a 10/10. Food and service are top notch. Ended are day perfectly with...
Read more4.1/5 - Beautiful ambience for their outdoor seating and really enjoyed lunch here. The server was extremely polite and accommodating.
Chips and salsa - really chunky, fresh salsa with crunchy nachos.
Queso Fundido Chorizo - queso fondue with chorizo on top served with flour tortillas. They do itself is amazing and works really well with nachos.
Pollo Mole Enchilada - incredible mole. Certainly one of the best we have had. Plenty of soft shredded chicken smothered in sauce encased between tortillas and baked on a hot stone.
Poblano Camaron - poblano pepper stuffed with shrimp and smothered in a poblano sauce accompanied with refried beans and rice.
Edit (decreased rating from 4.4 to 4.2):
Hot toddy - strong flavor of cinnamon but everything else watered down. Couldn’t taste much of the honey, orange or mezcal
Pollo Asada Molcajete - absolutely incredible dish, especially in the freezing cold. Chorizo and chicken was really flavorful and the nopales carried the salsa really well.
Pollo Chipotle Enchilada - really great dish too, but much rather have the mole enchiladas.
Edit (decreased rating from 4.2 to 4.1):
Tuetano Tacos - bone marrow dish but barely any bone marrow unfortunately. Was accompanied with a cilantro and onion salad which. Overall a disappointing dish.
Paella - lots of seafood but dish was a little dry. Had a fiery flavor which was good. This was my first time trying a Mexican paella so I was a little disappointed when it wasn’t served in a hot plate (maybe that’s how it is served).
Tres Leches - big serving, moist and flavorful. The sponge was a little dense.
Edit (increased rating from 4.1 to 4.2):
While red snapper- amazing dish served on a hot plate topped with sun dried tomatoes. One of my favourite...
Read moreWe were 15 minutes early for our reservation, but they seated us promptly. However, after seating us, they ignored us for 25 minutes, we got the occasional glance from waiters that were standing by the door to the patio laughing and watching a large group outside but nobody came over to greet us. A couple came after us and right away the waiter approached and spoke with them. We were one of four tables in the place, 10 people. Finally the waiter, who was clearly surprised by the fact that he was our waiter, came over and asked what we wanted to drink and if we were ready to order. We asked for a menu and he said “well it’s on there (referencing a QR code standee on the table) but sure” he came back and we ordered. He routinely ignored us for long stretches of time. Then we had a photographer try and sell us on a photograph. I get it, I’m in this industry for well over 20 years. I know the hustle. But when I’m paying $160 for two people there is a level of service I expect. The food was good, it’s a shame the service didn’t live up to the kitchen. Maybe on another night when there weren’t so many other parties going on we would have been better. I don’t often complain, I rarely write reviews, especially because I know how many pieces of the puzzle have to go right for you to get a great experience. I felt, as did my fiancé, that for that money and they amount of positive reviews, there should have been better service. Food, 4 out of 5. Service= 1 out of 5. Not sure if anything in these comments are particularly useful, but tagging waiters when you seat a table. And they all have earpieces and mobile...
