Pretty disappointed.
For dinner we had the arancini, the broccoli caesar salad with chicken and the Elm Street Pizza. And complimentary bread.
Starting with the bread, two wedges of what looked like Focaccia but it had too much rise and was pretty dry. Idk if it was over proofed or under hydrated but it missed the mark. It was seasoned with rosemary and thyme I believe, with salt. But it was served with a sweet butter spread that tasted a bit like it was honey butter but also didn't quite make it. Texas Roadhouse has better and it didn't make sense with the savory bread we got.
The appetizer, arancini. The rice was a good texture but otherwise pretty bland. Idk what type of stock they use but it kinda tasted like better than bullion and it was that yellow color you'd expect. No other filing just rice. The coating tasted off, not sure how to explain it. Maybe it was the oil maybe there was something weird in the dredge but just wasn't quite right. And sauce, the guajillo aioli, was not it. Idk about this one either, it left a weird taste in my mouth. Almost like a polymer or something. Wasn't spicy and didn't have any obvious flavors. Again rather bland.
I had the Elm Street Pizza. For the almost $30 you spend on the large, it was wildly underwhelming. Nothing special about all the components. Pesto, cheese, and tomato sauce, nothing really stood out. That pizza was prob worth maybe $5 of ingredients. Idk if any of that was house made. You could tell me it was all jarred sauce and pesto. The crust was good, the pizza was at least cooked with for a Detroit style. The dough had a good texture. Springy, had a good bite, but even that I didn't love. It was salty and heavily buttered. I feel like that was doing a lot of the heavy lifting. The paper it was served on had sucked up a lot of that oil.
The Dean machine salad. Alright but just a glorified broccoli salad, just with a caesar twist. Couldn't put my finger on this one either but even the dressing was off a little bit.
And then we get to the over all price. I spent $110 and nothing was impressive enough to justify that. The pizza was why I wanted to go but that was the most disappointing. It was plain and wildly average especially for the price. That's would feel right at home for $18 at a corner pizza place. Really crazy to charge almost $30 for that. I mean this place is nice looking but the service was slow even tho they were very nice. And the noise, very loud, could barely hear my gf right in front of me. It's like these places always forget about sound dampening.
Conclusion. Unbelievably mid and wildly over priced. Everything was too salty, nothing hit the mark. If I'm spending over $100 at your restaurant without even getting alcohol or dessert, you better be knocking my socks off and this wasn't even close....
Read moreWent for brunch on a Saturday. Was gloomy and rainy day but the place was bright and cheery. Our waitress was very nice. Was not very busy during brunch, I don't know why the food was quite good. I'll take it as a good sign and put it on my brunch rotation. Hard to find a quiet brunch spot.
I had a delicious frittata with short ribs (they were so good!) tomato and feta. My only thing was the frittata was more like an omelet then a frittata which I am used to have a circular cooked in a bad feel with all the fixings mixed in. This was more like an omelet worth the fixings on top. Was still great tasting but wasn't the "frittata" style I was used to. Also some great shoe string fries with a house made Chipotle mayo dipping sauce. My SO got the avacado and shrimp tacos with some roasted brussel sprouts.
Now here is the thing, the brussel sprouts may have been the tastiest thing I had. They had this spectacular sauce on them which was sweet and sour at the same time and really hit all the best spots on your tongue. According to our server its house made. I'll be going again just for the brussels sprouts.
Bloody Mary was good. Not the best I've had but not too...
Read moreThis place was great I'd definitely go back! The vibes between the bar area downstairs and the seating area upstairs are vastly different. Upstairs felt like a winery tasting room while downstairs had orange color walls and really fun tin ceilings. It was also loud up there.
Rachel, our server, was great. In fact all the staff we interacted with were very pleasant. The table bread/butter was so amazing, I knew the meal was gonna be good.
The calamari texture was literally perfect. The Jenni salad was big, had lots of cheese and walnuts! The burger was incredible and the pizza was amazing. I coukd use all the positive adjectives to describe this place.
Drinks! They have a bunch of very fairly priced wines by the bottle, we got Cava, for 39 dollars we had after dinner cocktails too and they were both perfect. My wife said she wished every espresso martini tasted like the one she had.
We sat next to some regulars (John/Michelle) and they told us this place is consistently excellent. Not just the foods but the whole experience.
We feel silly having gone to Philly while this place had been here to whole time! Wife and I both loved it.
Went back on...
