There are some facets of Asian cuisine that may be lacking in Wichita, but Vietnamese is certainly not one of them. In fact, Asian Bistro is about as Asian-fied as you can expect for this city. Largely Asian dining population? Check. Asian writing on the menus? Check? Asian packaged treats by the counter? Oh yes.
Half of the menu is split between bahn mis and pho, so I ordered the house varieties of each. The bahn mi was amongst the best I ever had, layering flavor upon flavor upon flavor, featuring brisket, ginger, carrots, and cilatro amongst other things that was a pure flavor experience in my mouth that I wanted to keep going. There was a reason why they offered so many of these sandwiches, and it was because they were f'n awesome.
The pho, too, was a bastion of authentic flavors, featuring tripe amongst the standard meatballs and brisket, not only flavoring the already very flavorful broth, but really putting to use what we would normally consider the garbage parts of the cow. It wasn't always the kind of thing you looked forward to eating, but it flavored the broth excellently, which is really the goal of excellent pho.

Read moreMy husband and I drove by this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and decided to stop in for lunch. It was very busy but a table was cleared and we were seated immediately. Drinks were ordered and brought out quickly. Then menu had lots of options and a variety of food from noodle and rice dishes, pho and sandwiches, and as advertised authentic Asian dishes. We ordered crab Rangoonâs, Phad Thai Combination, and Chicken Fried Rice. The Rangoonâs arrived steaming and were very fresh. The main courses arrived shortly after and was equally prepared as ordered and tasted wonderful. The service was good and attentive. Staff were patient and answered questions about the menu. Overall, it was a good experience and recommended for those that want quality and...
Read moreI used to really love this place and used to go every single week! But the last time I went (about a year ago) I found a really thick piece of hair deep in my pho that just grossed me out so much that I refused to go back ever since then. I also felt bad about telling them about it idk why. I think I went one more time after that because my family wanted to go but the food didnât taste the same to me and the restaurant didnât feel as clean after that idk how to explain it. Other than that the service was always pretty good, all the servers were exceptional and caring and Iâll always remember the refreshing hot bowls of pho I would have when I would come to...
