The Naked Egg Taco: A spin off of their popular "Naked Chicken Chalupa" which is/was* quite delicious, Taco Bell is now offering for a limited time, a "Naked Egg Taco."
For a limited time is a good thing, because the "Naked Egg Taco" sucks. I'll be surprised if this breakfast item makes it to the permanent menu.
The "shell" of the Naked Egg Taco is a fried egg and that "shell" is stuffed with seasoned potatoes, cheddar cheese and your choice of either bacon or sausage. I went with the sausage for this trial.
With my first bite, I noticed how there was no texture to this "taco," no crunch to speak off, the consistency of all the ingredients was the same. Perhaps if I would have gone with bacon, there might have been a little crunch, some texture in that breakfast bite. The whole thing was just soft... Soft, as in not lightly caramelized, crisp on the outside tender on the inside potato; the soft sausage (to be expected); the melted cheese (also to be expected, it's melted cheese....); all that wrapped in a soft egg despite being fried. You would think the edges of that egg would have some crispiness to it, but surprisingly, it didn't. In fact, I found the Naked Egg Taco to be greasy. Being a new item, I'm wondering if it was prepared correctly. It comes with a little holder to eat it with, but this was beyond eating a fried food not wanting to get a little fried tastiness on the fingers, this "taco" was greasy both in presentation and taste. I was left wondering if the fryers at this particular Taco Bell were at the correct temperature. Good fried food is crisp, with no greasy aftertaste. That certainly wasn't the case here. An educated guess tells me the fryer temp wasn't hot enough.
The Naked Chicken Chalupa was innovative, the Naked Egg Taco is not. It's boring in taste and presentation. Even if the Naked Egg Taco were to be prepared correctly, it's still a disappointing breakfast taco. It lacks layers of flavor and texture. If I could sum this item up with an 'innovative' new word, it would be "Blandsoft." No teeth, no dentures are required to eat this thing, you could gum it..... Taco Bell gets a thumbs down on this one. For a limited time indeed.
The Taco Bell I visited is located at: 1695 S Webb Rd, Wichita, KS 67207
*The Naked Chicken Chalupa was a "limited time" offering earlier this year and is no longer available, but there is rumor that the success of it puts it on the permanent menu in the near future.

Read moreThe way this store is handled by their employees I would suggest new management or new staff. These employees truly don’t care how they talk, serve or help their customers when ordering food. They don’t bother to make the food correctly nor do they care if they do. They way it was handle was extremely unprofessional. It’s like a bunch of kids literally work there. I would suggest maybe someone who has experience management skills to take over. Or they will continue to run it down. The location is convenient all but this is starting to become a habit for them. When you order supreme taco combo but get regular tacos with just the cheese, meat, lettuce and shell. There charging you for the supreme but you get basic taco. I might as well go across the street to taco tico. Pay less there for what you actually get. I’m not sure if their being trained due to shortage of food ingredients but that’s a scam. This has happened multiple times and to multiple customers. I live in the area and have asked others and they all say the same thing about the supreme tacos. I haven’t tried ordering other meals that don’t require or get the sour cream. I do know they do it ALL the time with the supreme tacos. I may go to Taco Bell about once a month and it’s the same issue. This time I brought it up to them and they were not friendly about handling the situation. I know I was holding up the line at the drive thru and I will apologize for that. But isn’t that why we pay for the food we request to get what we want?...
Read moreToday at 4 pm two female employees were working and two little girls maybe 6 years old was trying to get their attention to use a coupon. The staff not only ignored them, but ignored all of us trying to get their attention. They purposefully ignored us even walking by us without a word, i asked the employee if they are not allowed to talk to customers at the counter?? She pointed at another employee and said we need to talk to her, after walking passed us and acting like we were all invisible. The one we were "supposed" to talk to had been standing there trying not to look at us.. ?? Like weirdos. Had ugly looks on their faces the entire time. It was not a backed up drive through, there were only a couple of people inside the lobby. The little girls had to ask strangers, adults to get their assistance, and it took multiple hollering out to get the employee to walk to the register. It was literally disgusting behavior. The children were standing there before we even walked in so i dont know how long they had been trying to get their food. We were inside about 5-8 minutes before the girls asked us for help. I frequent this location and have had no issues before. Needless to say we left without ordering anything. Treating people like that is unacceptable and both the white short haired female and the Hispanic black haired female should be...
