Heard about this place from the paper on Monday, and I was finally able to visit for lunch today. The place was essentially empty, in the whole time we were there there were only three other groups of customers that came in to get something to eat. That's not for lack of quality or service. The food was excellent, I enjoyed everything I got. The food was hot and it filled me up, the service was prompt, you can really tell they're trying to make this a place where people will want to grab some good (and well-priced, in my opinion) food. Also, their menu is quite large, so I think there's something for every taste, and I see they've been doing specials. I didn't have today's special, mostly because I think the guacamole would really add to it, and I'm allergic to avocadoes. Not very fair of me to judge a dish when I'm allergic to one of the things that makes it good.
I want to stress, as the first person to review them on Google here at their new location, the importance of patronage. This place is good, but people NEED to show up for it. Too many places suffer the lack of business regardless of the quality of the food. The location isn't perfect, the building is dated, but there are many places where that is hardly an issue and are packed every night. If anyone wants to give this place a try, please do. I know they will appreciate the business and it helps keep them around so they can serve you next time. I'll be telling people in the area to give it a try, and I hope that their move from Bel Aire won't put this place to death.
Fernando, Hector, keep it up and I hope this place is packed in...
Read moreIt's my first time coming here and so far everything good, the service, the chips and salsa, and the bomb ass horchata. The wait for the food was not long at all, and the food was really good. The servers were also very funny and friendly. I got the beef steak with 2 eggs and rice and beans. I personally liked the dish, and that says a lot because most places I've been to, I don't really like the steaks. La agua de melon y Jamaica are from machines so most people don't like them and what I liked was that the actualy people serving told us that, and told us how other people don't really like it. That was very helpful.
I want to also talk about the interior and exterior of the place. It's a very colorful and lively place. It felt like home a bit, it's cozy and the people there make you feel at home. The exterior is also very colorful and there are lights put up for Christmas, which make it all that pretty. The inside has words written on the walls like, "la cocina", "El patio", which is very creativa and honestly so super nice of them. I just wish instead of soccer or sports, they should put old Mexican films. I think it would make it a tad bit better. Of course because I'm Mexican, but also because it is a Mexican restaurant. The name itself is...
Read moreDid a spur of the moment carry out order when I saw a video of their pollo feliz special. It was ready extremely quickly, still hot, and overall excellent. I'm not a mushroom person, requested it without, and was happy there wasn't a mushroom in sight. Ordered husband the chile colorado, a particular favorite of his. Often this dish is lacking the depth of chile flavor at other places. As soon as I peeled back the lid, I knew that wasn't the case here just by the color. He devoured it and asked if he could go back for more tomorrow. Beans were well seasoned, pico & guac had the perfect amount of lime, cheese dip was smooth and 2 yr old couldn't get enough. Rice was a little on the bland side, but mixed well with our entree sauces. Salsa was very nice. Had some heft to it- not a watery mess nor just diced tomato. A tiny bit of heat. Very enjoyable, even for a capsacin wuss like me. Should've paid for extra because we fought over the included 4ish oz cup. Many places do one or two things well but first impression tells me these people understand flavor. Price point was better than most with a comparable menu. Will absolutely be back. Thanks for a...
