Emperor's Japanese Grill — Restaurant in Wichita

Do not waste your time or money to bother going to this place ever again. You use to get a nice ceramic plate full of delicious food. Now you get a flimsy foam plate with overpriced garbage. Ordered 3 meals and a side of crab Rangoon. They attempted to give our crab rangoons to a different table twice and finally figured out where it went. They didn't seem to busy inside, maybe a few call in orders. It's like they were making our plates of food once at a time. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, my daughter were nearly done with their meals. Other customers that came in after use had gotten their meals and to go orders were coming and picking up their food. I realized I wasn't getting mine anytime soon. I asked the counter about my food and they totally blew me off and said yea it's coming. It's a good thing we ordered crab rangoons or I'd be eating napkins. 10 minutes later seeing others eating I asked again and once again I was told it's coming. Few minutes later it finally arrived, it was suppose to be chefs special chicken. What I got was chicken and cabbage, hardly any other vegetables. The girl that works the counter dropped it off and while running away she said they had to make more chicken thats why it took so long. This place is horrible, the workers don't care. It was surprisingly fairly clean inside by reading other reviews, probably because no-one eats at this hole anymore so keeping it somewhat clean isn't that hard. I asked why they went to the flimsy foam plates, and they told me so they didn't have to pay the costs to rent the dishwasher. I'd give this dump 100...

I would like to rate this place with 5 stars because we were excited to eat here based on the 'mostly' good reviews on Google hoping it would be as good for us but the food ended up being just okay and overpriced given the quality. However, the thing that dropped this to a one star rating was the SERVICE my family received from this establishment. It was so horrible that it far outweighed even tolerating the food quality. The girl up front was so rude after she was asked to give us what was originally ordered (by which I ended up ASKING her to charge me for 3 times so she was aware in NO WAY were we asking for anything to be done/given for free!!!) that she, the cook and the 'manager' had made it a huge deal and laughed that we were stuck with it ('it' meaning the $80 worth of food that they never intended on making the way I ordered it) now because they wouldn't honor a refund NOR WOULD THEY FIX IT!!! We ended up giving our family of 5's dinner to a couple homeless people and gave our dog the one I ate out of to 'try' the food we just got forced into taking and went down the road to an establishment that would honor WHAT WE ORDERED AND PAID FOR and the quality and worth the money we paid!!! We will NEVER step foot back in here to eat. I dont care if the food was the best we had ever had, the service was by far the worst and it was certainly not worth the time and absolutely not worth the money we ended up...

I found this place but accident after taking a wrong turn on the west edge of township after running an errand over there left me craving lasagna. Despite the obvious mismatch, my meal was able to traverse the difference in cuisine.

After deciding against checking out a Fazoli's nearby, I opted for the scenic route back to the other side of town and hopped on Maple instead of Kellogg. I turned the wrong way and actually headed farther west. As I was changing my mind and thinking about getting that lasagna after all, "Japanese grill" caught my eye. I can get franchise fast food any time throughout town, so I changed my mind yet again, and backtracked back to Emperor's. Glad I did!

Tasty and fairly quick considering it was put together fresh. Polite and friendly staff. A nicely full to-go box of food for the price - I paid $15, including a 16oz drink and a tip, for a calamari dish with an extra side of different veggies.

For those concerned about COVID, all the employees I saw were wearing fabric face masks, and wearing them properly. There were only a handful of customers coming in for take out orders that they called in, but all of them were also courteous and wore masks as well and social distanced from myself and the other customer or two.

Overall, would recommend. I'll have a couple servings left...
