Gambino's is one of our all time favorite pizza places. We eat at one location regularly and have been to several other locations multiple times. I'm honestly not sure how this place is open and even more how they're allowed to be part of the franchise. Their food is truly nothing like any other Gambino's.
I decided to give it another try after a terrible buffet experience quite some time back. The issue then was that the buffet had only 2 pizzas on it when we arrived shortly after the buffet started (but there was only 3 people eating there). They told us we could request some, so we did, and 45 minutes later they brought those out. Never any wings or pasta, even though it was the night they were supposed to have wings.
Now for my most recent experience. Hoping things had improved, I ordered a medium pizza to go from their lunch special. I was first told they couldn't do the half and half pizza I wanted, even though it's our go to at other locations. I decided to just order it as two pizzas. When they handed them to me, I honestly thought maybe they had only given me one pizza and an empty box. The I opened it and found a thin crust cheese pizza, which was not what I ordered. Turns out, they were my pizzas lol.
This location rolls the crust out thinner than most thin crust pizzas. They seem to cook them the same amount of time though, which makes them overly crunchy and almost burnt. They also only put a fraction of the toppings on, so really, you're spending a lot more for what you're getting, even if they have a better coupon. Don't expect your meat cravers pizza to have more than a few pieces of meat on each slice.
Decided to just settle for the fact that I wasted 30 minutes and $20 and go to our regular location instead. Gave these ones to someone panhandling, who graciously accepted them. So in a way, I'm glad I got them so I could use them to make someone else's day.
Don't have any complaints about the employees or the owner when I've been in there, I just wish they would spend some time at other locations to see what the other stores do that makes the pizza so wonderful. They have everything they need to have a great store, it's just not being done in the way that made Gambino's the...
Read moreWe visited Gambino's Pizza last night for the first time excited to try the Keto friendly pizza, we came in around 8pm, ordered 2 pizzas for a total of $28 (small personal pan). We ordered dine in and sat dining room to the left of the cashier, not even two minutes pass and the lights go off (just in that area), we sat in the dark like what just happened. I went to find someone and no apologizes just turned them back on. I used the restroom and few seconds later someone tries to come in and I can hear her saying is she still in there. I'm like YES she is. I came back to the table and they had asked my husband to move so they could mop, really mop. I am not sure how you can mop properly in the dark as they turned the lights back off in that area. We let that go and waited for our pizza. The young crew was very loud. When our pizza’s come out they are in to go boxes and were plopped down on the table and the girl says “I don’t know which one is which” and walked away. No plates, no napkins nothing. Then maybe 2 minutes till 9pm this young man comes over and says “We are closed now, you will have to leave for security reasons”. So, I was like I need to speak to your manager and he was like I am the manager, I told him that was very unprofessional and I would like the GM number, he rudely said “I am not about to get rubbed”. I said I am not going to rob you. He said and I quote “I am done with you” He wrote down a number. We have not even had a chance to enjoy our very expensive and might I sadly add not so great tasting dinner. I called the number that was given and no one answered and voice mail is not setup (kind of strange). I get a phone call back from a lady and explain everything and she was sounded shocked and took my name and number and said I will be in the store in the morning. For all I know that was his friend. I am part of a large Keto community and was so excited to share the great find. I really hope the staff has some serous retraining and or...
Read moreAfter a handful of visits to the new Wichita location I have been able to try a pepperoni, cheese, beef, taco, and Mac and cheese pizza. In addition to those, I have tried their traditional bone-in wings (buffalo and spicy garlic) and an order of their lasagna. I have really enjoyed all of the pizzas I have tried and was even surprised by how much I enjoyed their (Kraft, mind you) Mac n’ cheese pizza which is supposedly a limited time special that has been on the menu for at least several months. The crust is somewhere between thin and your typical hand tossed thickness and does a nice job holding all the toppings while not feeling overly flimsy or crunchy. A friend of mine made an observation I agree with that for your traditional topping pizzas they are good, but noticeably better when hot and fresh. You could say the same about most pizzas but it seems especially true with Gambino’s. Also, the taco pizza was quite good as well. I was initially a little put off by the little packets of taco sauce they give you to put on the pizza yourself but I understand the logic and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. I definitely tried putting some of my hot sauces on the pizza and it perfectly compliments the taco sauce. They really should change from the random placement of half slices of tomatoes to diced tomatoes however. The lasagna was about what I expected (think higher quality stouffers and you’re close). And the wings while pretty tasty (especially that spicy garlic) could have a little more meat on them or at least lower the price. The pizza is a bit pricy but it’s one of the better options in my opinion and absolutely worth trying it if you find any coupons or take advantage of any of their deals (couple weekends ago it was half priced large pizzas!). If I could I would give Gambino’s...
