This is another one close to my heart. It's actually also a point of mild family feud 😂 See, I have cousins who prefer a place nextdoor that's just called Saigon and serves bánh mì. I'm in the same camp as the parents, uncles, and aunts, all of whom like Little Saigon! One of my older cousins got us all hooked on it and we have been going back ever since! There's something lighthearted about the place that makes you want to be in there! I'm not kidding, I get Jesus Vibes from this place, and I think other people do as well! That just seems to be a thing about Vietnamese culture, they're just so sweet and kind! And just like Passage to India, this is a place where you can get your fill! The portions are enormous! The food is hardy! The coffee is on point, and the last time I checked, they now offer a selection of Wichita brewed kombucha 😁 I come from a family of meat eaters who all quickly realized they are huge into Vietnamese food, so they like to eat the spring rolls and the offerings with pork, including char-broiled. I have a brother who has appreciated their cà phê sữa đá (that's cold coffee with milk 😁), and my dad has gotten into their wine. Don't be fooled by my cousins, Little Saigon is the better choice! Hey, I personally think our grandparents would have preferred it, so yeah! Come to Wichita, go downtown, visit the Vietnamese neighborhood, and hit up...
Read moreI just moved back to Wichita last year (after 20 years) and I've had a lot of fun visiting the restaurants I remember from my childhood. My parents and I visited Little Saigon last week and it was just as good as I remember. The dining room is bright and inviting, and the staff is very friendly.
My mother and I enjoyed bowls of the Egg Noodle Soup with pork and shrimp, and my father enjoyed the vegetable stir-fry along with a side of fresh spring rolls (tofu).
The Egg Noodle Soup was fantastic. The noodles were nice and firm, the broth was rich, and there were healthy portions of pork and shrimp on top. The soup was served with a side of fresh bean sprouts, lime, jalapeno, and basil.
My father was very happy with his vegetable stir-fry and his spring rolls. The spring rolls were large, fresh, and served with a side of peanut sauce.
All of the portions were substantial none of us left hungry. There were plenty of condiments on the table (sriracha, hoisin, soy sauce, pepper, etc), plus they have hot chili oil and sambal chili sauce they can bring out upon request.
We visited Saigon (the restaurant next door) the week before, and would definitely recommend Little Saigon to anyone trying to choose...
Read moreEasily the most disappointing dining experience I've ever had. I ordered a large beef pho(P5) and the garlic shrimp appetizer. The wife had beef and broccoli with egg rolls. The pho was bland and lifeless. The broth nearer to tepid dishwater than anything fit for human consumption. The garlic shrimp was cold and without the slightest bit of garlic. I simply could not eat it. As if this experience weren't bad enough, I also got to enjoy the arrogant and self righteous response of not one, not two, but three servers when they saw my untouched order in the middle of the table. At first, I thought that I was just reading the server's expressions wrong.. a few minutes later, at the cash register, I learned that I was reading them perfectly. After charging me full price for inedible, disgusting fare they had the nerve to act indignant that I didn't tip. How this place manages to be held in such high regard is beyond me. I paid $50 for horrible food and worse customer service and ended up eating a Lunchable and a bologna sandwich on my couch. I've never felt compelled to stand in front of a business and warn potential victims of their impending miserable dining experience. Until now. I'll...
