MIF Deli is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the area. This family owned business is unique and welcoming as soon as you walk through the doors. Entering the establishment, I was filled with a new cultural atmosphere of feeling like I was in a beautiful quaint restaurant in the Middle East. The owners greeted me and told me to sit anywhere. The staff including sometimes the owners come to get your drink orders asap. When they return they answer any questions you may have about their menu. The menu is detailed explaining what is in what for the most part. You can see right into the kitchen, which is what I loved because I always have the paranoia of thinking everything is frozen. Everything is freshly made for you to ensure customer satisfaction. The murals on the walls are hand painted and set a home-like feel as you wait on the food. My first visit, I ordered tomato soup with pita bread on the side, along with a chicken gyro. The chicken was delicious and not dry at all. I got a side of the sauce that is on the gyro because it was sooo good. Even though I was full, I could not resist to have a piece of the mouth watering chocolate mousse pie! I took my soup home and enjoyed it for lunch the next day. I also got baklava to go with it. Both were as amazing as I imagined. Prices were not bad considering I got two meals out of it with desserts. I love the experience and my husband knows this is my favorite place to go now. I don't have to feel bad about eating it because depending on what you order and how much of it you eat, it is good for any type of diet you are on. I have ordered through the delivery service and got a chicken salad. It was so yummy and again, fresh juicy chicken breast diced up in just the right size. Mmmmm ....if you haven't tried this yet, you must go! I was hesitant because of trying new places but I am so...
Read moreGrandma and I ate here again yesterday. He kneads by hand the many layers of filo dough and emanates a pride that is beyond mere food. I'm a former steak and potato, burger and fries fellow of the fast food booth. This man and his staff have converted me. His plates are delivered as local works of art to our table. They appear better than photos in magazines. The young men and women who deliver are cheerful, courteous and respectful. Beautiful people. Grandma loves to get a plate and admire as she eats, as if the appearance and presentation enhances her self esteem. I buy five or six meat pies for later. From the freezer through the microwave I can again enjoy this group's hard and sincere work. The memories bring grace and dignity to my dinner table whether paper plate or good china. While the artistic plates are to be enjoyed on site the pies can be enjoyed anywhere......but I haven't tried them over an open camp fire on the prairie....yet. I really am grateful we have MIF here, and recommend it to anyone for first time experiment or for the...
Read moreCheck it out!! Drove by 1,000 times without noticing, but someone mentioned this spot & I decided to try it. Very understated storefront, but don't let that mislead you. Read on. MIF Deli (Mediterranian International Food - had to ask). Just west of Carriage Parkway main entrance, northside, facing Central. Quaint, very clean. Deli counter, but also table service. My wife had the daily special ($14.99) which was Chicken Puffed Pastry, served with a cup of soup or salad (chose Lentil Butternut Squash). I had Chicken Humos Shawarma ($12.99). The special was a HUGE helping. The cream sauce was savory and properly portioned, the puffed pastry was crispy, flaky and delicious... and the white meat chicken was moist & tasty. Served with pita strips. Wow! On to the shawarma. What can one say, other than excellent? Hummus was superb. Generous serving of pita strips on the side. Yum! Service could not have been better. So, this demur little deli went well beyond my expectations. I say "Put this on your bucket-list of Wichita eateries." Highly...
