Sadly, we are now very disappointed in this establishment. LOVE their food, especially the monster baked potatoes. However.... several things have occurred in the past month that have caused us to not use their services anymore. The last time we ordered take-out, we were not informed that the monster stuffed potatoes had been recategorized as an "Appetizer" so that there would be no free side dish as there had been before. We ordered 2 baked potatoes, salads, and 2 sides and were puzzled as to why the price was an additional $10+. Also had requested blue cheese dressing for the salads - the dressing was forgotten in the order, along with the containers of BBQ sauce. A few days ago we called an hour prior to pickup to check if they did have monster baked potatoes in stock as the last time we called (on Valentine's Day) they had run out. We had out of town guests who wanted to try the wonderful monster stuffed potatoes. We were assured that they did have potatoes available. Called back an hour later to place the order; ordered the potatoes then realized we forgot to order the salads so called again to add salads to the pickup order. Was then informed that they had suddenly run out of potatoes! This was the middle of the week. It is such a shame that this local restaurant under new management has gotten so disorganized. Could it be a potato supply chain issue? Somehow I doubt it. Will not be going back.
Followup: Since I wrote the last review we have had breakfast at the restaurant and ordered take-out twice. The breakfast experience was wonderful - excellent breakfast burritos and biscuits & gravy (as per my husband). Great service; friendly & efficient. We ordered take-out choosing the monster baked potatoes just to try the process again and were very pleased this time. Everything was ready for us when my husband arrived to pick up the meals. The potatoes were fantastic as usual. Glad that we gave Hassayampa Smokehouse BBQ another try. We will be back...
Read moreWe made an impromptu drive to Wickenburg a just to get out of the house and enjoy some time together. It was Sunday and a lot of places in town are closed. We’d been wanting to try Hassayampa BBQ for sometime as we’ve tried a lot of the other spots nearby, It was quite empty when we arrived (it was still early for dinner). We were greeted pretty quick and taken to a booth near the patio door. It was so quiet we were so surprised. Our drink order was taken and we were given some time to look over the menu. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich and a side salad with their homemade ranch. My husband went with the Sampler Platter. I everything came out fairly fast and looked good. My bun was toasted which I loved. I wish it had slaw or something on it as it came plain, we weren’t asked or told about types of their bbq sauce , but we saw it on the table and added our own where we wanted it. The Prickly Pear was my favorite and had a great kick! The ribs were great my husband said. The cornbread had some hard pieces of corn in it, but decent. Business picked up closer to 6 and was more full when we left. Our biggest complaint was the door constantly slamming anytime anyone in or out of the patio. It needs a slow close or something. It was so loud and I can’t imagine if it was even busier having to hear that every two seconds. Other than that it was...
Read moreUpdate: 9 months after our initial visit after the new owners have taken over, I am happy to report that service and food just keep getting better. Stopped in for breakfast today, and definitely were NOT disappointed. LOVED IT! The Hubs and I stopped by Hassayampa BBQ today for lunch for the first time since the new owners took over. Don't get me wrong, I liked the food here and never experienced any real problems with the old ownership, but the difference from the last time I was here was VERY noticeable. Just walking in, the atmosphere has improved tremendously, and the staff seems happy to be there. The place looks cleaner and brighter, service is fast and friendly like never before, the food that we had (smoked Reuben, Sampler platter, slaw, Mac n cheese, creamed corn) was outstanding. The owners are actively helping and supporting their staff, speaking to guests, and supporting the community. If you haven't been there since the change in ownership, I highly recommend giving Hassayampa...
