Was a bit apprehensive going. For some reason I thought it was a more upscale place than we normally go to. Maybe because of the prices or the fact that their most common patrons are well off retirees. At any rate we gave it a shot. Loved the atmosphere. Very NY/PA deli which I liked. The bar area was cool with color changing lights. Food was pricey. Not used to sandwiches being $10 and being served with nothing, not even a pickle spear. The Ham & Cheese sandwich didn't say it had vinaigrette (very watery, next to no flavor) lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Neither did the server say that/ask if that was all ok. Not the norm in any restaurant to not have it mentioned at all. Not cool when people have allergies. Also wasn't asked if I wanted it hot or cold. The menu did not say sandwiches were hot. Server did come back after 5 minutes and immediately noticed something wasn't right & corrected it. Cold sandwich without that stuff was better but the bread just wasn't good. She kept up on drinks which is huge for us. The Stromboli was a hit with my husband. The dough lacked something for me personally but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Came to this place by recommendations of some neighbors. Food smell great once you enter the place, that stop there. They put us on a dirty booth that still had the check and napkins from previous patrons. They set us a garlic bread knots that was ok. Bread is better in any other restaurant. Plates dirty, one was chipped. We had two acceptable bottles of Italian wines ( 3.9 ), but they were both slightly corked. ( they don’t know what was that.) Italian weeding soup with no taste, watered, small quantity, and no tiny beef meatballs? My Penne Pasta with meat sauce and meatballs, did not have meat sauce for more that the waitress try to convince me. It was a marinara sauce which she agreed later it was. They brought me what they say is a side of bolognese sauce, which for me was like a beef stew with large chunks of beef and large vegetables. Tasted as beef stew. The meatballs were ok. Judge by the pic. My wife, a direct Italian descendant order a pizza which was ok, no better than most places around, but with a fairly good crust. Got to give them that. On summary not a good experience.

We are new to the area and discovered Roberto’s after visiting the nearby Pinellas branch library. We ordered a medium deluxe pizza for takeout; the order was ready in the promised 20 minutes. We waited in the car and observed large and small groups going in leading us to believe the restaurant enjoys a local trade. Shaded outdoor seating is available; one couple enjoyed a late lunch with their pup. I waited the last few minutes inside. Roberto’s has a definite ristorante feel to it in decor and booths. Prepackaged Italian cookies are available as are pre-made grab and go sandwiches. The pizza crust was tender and the flavors distinct. We had several pieces to enjoy for later. We will return and try another item from the varied menu.

I debated giving this review.... I kind of don't like to give purely negative reviews, but honestly people need to know. My friend and I got there probably a little before 5:00 p.m., The garlic knots that were brought out with our salad were absolutely fabulous!! The salad very blah... Basically just lettuce and tomato. The waitress was an older lady that didn't tend to be very friendly, she talked both of us into some type of fish / risotto house special. Some people came and took the table beside us about 15 minutes after we got there, next thing you know they're being served their dinner... We still didn't have anything except for the salad and one garlic knot each, at that time the waitress realized that probably didn't go right and said they must have forgotten our order. So we waited patiently.. finally another 20 minutes later we got our order. It was fish put over top of some risotto that more resembled macaroni and cheese with a sauce over the whole top of it, even over top of the lemon, so to squeeze the lemon you had to stick your fingers in the sauce... I took two bites and thought how horrible I thought it was, I looked over at my friend and she was picking at hers too.. by the time I took the third bite I knew I was never putting any more of that food in my mouth, I nicknamed it fish mush. When the waitress came back we told her we would like to send it back and get something else... She dropped us off a menu and then didn't come back for 20 minutes... When she came to take our second order we had been there well over an hour at that point, We both ordered something off the menu and once again another 25 minute wait... My friend really liked her Chicken Piccata, she said it was delicious!! I got Chicken Parmesan, The chicken was pounded so thin that there was no chicken in there, literally it was fried breading, I showed it to my friend to make sure I wasn't crazy and she agreed, there was nothing but a super thin line of white chicken in the middle, none on the 1.5 inch edge all the way around, just fried breading...Our Server never came back to ask if we liked our food or do we need anything else to drink. She did finally come at the end to bring our check and see if we need a box. I said I did not need a box even though it was obvious I had only eaten probably two bites, she didn't question that, she didn't ask me if something was wrong with it, or offer to make it right.. I didn't say anything... So I paid the bill $50 for both of our Dinners my friend had a Coke and I had an Iced Tea... I can truly say I would never go back again, I thought it was horrible and it was a very bad experience. Our waitress was dour and advised us that she was busy helping up front is why she left us sitting so long with no attention. I do want to say I saw some Pizzas on other tables that looked pretty delicious, so maybe you have to know what to order... To me it was a sad sack experience!!! I still tipped her $10, I figured maybe she was just having a...

Really deserves ZERO stars.

Very disappointed. Came here after recommendations on Facebook and from the Altem life who review many places in The Villages.

Arrived at 6pm. Didn't get our food until 7pm. My wife ordered a salad, and I ordered chicken parm. This should not take an hour to make.

The garlic knots were fair, about a 4/10. The chicken parm was probably one of the WORST I have ever tasted.

The chicken tasted old, and dry. The sauce tasted like it was from a jar, and not a good one.

The meal came with a salad.

When the waitress came over to ask how everything was, I said it was poor. She did offer to get me something else, but after waiting over 1 hour for the food, and having plans, the time wasn't there.

She never came back. Another gal came over asked if I wanted a box, I said no way, no one will eat this. Our waitress did come over and apologize, and when she came back, she said that Roberto gave me a credit for the meal.

Here is the kicker: They charged me $5.00 for the salad. Granted, I did eat the salad they brought, that is fair. I just have never had a scenario where I have had to return a meal and got the charge taken off the bill and I still had to pay for a portion of it.

If I ordered a steak, potato and vegetable, would they have charged me for the potato if I just ate that?

This is not about the money, but the principle here just was odd.

Needless to say, we will...
