Overall terrible experience and we love Applebees. We were in town visiting with family, so this particular one was new to us. And trust me when I say we will not be returning. Started with our waitress, she was very inattentive, spent time laughing with coworkers but not checking up on tables or back with us in a timely manner to see if we were ready to order. Did not know the menu well enough to answer specific questions we had about certain items. The food, was less than desirable. Steak was tough, had to “saw” through it with knife, salad was brown and slimy, bun on sandwich was very soggy, ribs overdone. Atmosphere, very very warm in there, yes it’s 95 degrees out, but we found out after we ate that the air conditioning was out of service. Maybe a sign on the door or mention to those coming in that this would be an issue during their experience. The manager was going from table to table asking people to leave reviews, mentioned the air being broken and asking patrons to specifically state on review they seen the manager on the floor. Even with all of this, we tried to make the most of it. Myself, I am a server and know what it’s like to have bad days and be understanding. We didn’t really complain, other than ask for a new salad and stressed that we know what it’s like and sorry to ask and we know this was not the waitresses fault. Our real issue came when it was time to pay the bill. We were practically forced to use the table top machines if paying by card. 2/3 was paying by card, the other cash. Waitress took the cash right away, kept going back and forth to the till but still not bringing change back to us. We had issues with machine, waitress would try to help instead of just taking our cards and going to run on her end. We ended up figuring it out, paid what was due on our slips. Then the waitress comes back with the change from cash payment. Counted it and realized it was short about $15. Waitress claimed that one of the credit card payments didn’t pay their full amount. Why would we do choose to only pay a percentage of our bill? We asked for receipts to be printed. Asked for precious said manager, who came out after telling the server there was nothing she could do, which the server told us before manager got to us. Manager was LESS than helpful. Refused straight out to print us our receipts so we could see what the totals were to compare them to what we paid. Because the math was not adding up what so ever. The waitress literally held that cash ($100 bill) for a $36 order until the cards went through. Then took it upon herself to not give the entire change due for that specific ticket because there was an outstanding $15 left to be paid. I tried explaining to the manager that I understand but I just wanted to see the receipts and if that’s truly the case we will pay the extra that was supposedly shorted. No receipts of proof provided. I finally got pissed off and stormed out and will never return, nor would I encourage anyone else to.
I am a server myself, and a good one at that. I don’t return food or complain when i go out because I know what it’s like. But this encounter was...
Read moreBy far, the worst Applebee's I've ever been to. To start off, the person that seated me (he/she/they/them) threw the menu on the table and just walked away. Then I hear the same person gossiping about other customers and how horrible they are. (he/she/they/them) was rude, unkempt, and very unprofessional. I order the spinach artichoke dip, which is always a favorite of mine. It comes out, and the chips are cold. After waiting for 10 mins because nobody is paying attention, I ask my rude waitress for silverware and napkins and get an attitude like it was an inconvenience for them. Guess I was supposed to just eat it like a savage. Then I ordered the bourbon steak and asked for it medium well. The chunk of steak (a horrible cut of meat) comes out completely raw in the middle and still cold. Not even close to how I order it. After waiting another 15 minutes, the waitress finally comes back around (with attitude), and I ask her if it looks like it's medium well. She agrees it doesn't and offers to take it back and have them cook it more. By this time, I'm upset and completely done with the place. I say I don't want it anymore because it was completely unedible looking and to please bring me my check. With even more rudeness and attitude, the server brings my check with the steak (that I didn't even take a single bite of) still on it. I refuse to pay for the steak, and that's when the real attitude comes out of her. She storms off, and what I assume goes to the manager. The manager never bothered to come see what was wrong or how it could be rectified. Again, more unprofessionalism. She brings the check. I pay for my drink and dip and leave. The table was sticky. The booth seat had food all over it. The staff (red shirts) were dirty, rude, and unkempt. Horrible horrible experience. I will never go back. Gossiping about customers, dirty, and rude as can be. Stay away...
Read moreI think that this place has a personnel issue. Always new waitresses/employees.
If you give special directions on your food, expect for it to ALWAYS be wrong and most likely cold. The servers do not pay special attention to details. If you send it back, it gets fixed quickly - so don't hesitate.
The drinks are never refilled, silverware never given, they never check the tables, the check takes FOREVER, servers fight over helping each other, forget details, no dressings when asked, don't memorize or understand the menu.
There's been times when the servers are rude, as well. Like talk back to the customers or blame the customers. I go here often with friends, so I see it all.
And ALWAYS check your to go order, ALWAYS. They mess it up so often!
My last straw as to why we don't eat here anymore was the servers all wear buttons that say ... if you're not offered a margarita or asked about dessert, get $5 off or something along those lines. As a group of friends, we always get the servers on this! Always. And they always laugh about it and oblige.
Well one time, we clearly got the server, and she wouldn't comply. She said that she offered it to the first person that got there in our group who left with her togo order right away. She was a friend that we just happened to run into that was waiting for her togo order. We were like, really? To fight about something as petty as that. The server also spent the entire hanging over the table with some guys...
