Went there on a rainy Sunday to catch up with a girlfriend who lives in Hinesburg so it’s a perfect location for us to meet as I live in Burlington. It was a little cold, but I asked to sit outside. For people who do not generally patronize the place, the line is confusing and that you can’t really tell if it’s for people waiting to be seated or people waiting to order- still the food is worth the wait if you’re looking for a quick casual lunch/brunch/breakfast.
The dark haired woman at the front was very unfriendly from the outset and I recalled the last time I visited- I felt the same about her ‘service’. It was graduation weekend and raining so the place was packed. I asked if we could sit outside and she said yes and started to take my order, but my friend wasn’t with me yet.l and asked if I could just sit down and wait to what she replied “yeah“ so obviously annoyed at my need for accommodations. We rejoined the line and eventually my friend walked up and was able to place our order- I tried, but was totally ignored.
Do better and be nice! I know it’s not always easy but it can lighten the mood around you on a busy day. I ran customer service operations for over 30 years and the staff is always impacted by a managers behavior. The staff at the corner that day seemed very focused on how busy it was and not the level of service which includes things like greeting, eye contact, consistent service to various types of people. The person who brought us our food was extremely nice, and then we had an extra chair, so someone was sent out to ask if they could use it as more people sat outside. Note- the ‘manager’ did not come out- ask or take any opportunity to...
Read moreMy fiancé and I went to this cafe hoping for a nice casual brunch but we were quickly disappointed. Looking at the menu as we waited to order, we noticed how expensive everything was. No options for a small bite of something and everything started at at least $13. When we asked about portion sizes for the sandwiches, we received a rude and short answer that did not answer the question. We were offered baguette for our sandwiches and agreed, excited to try their bread. We paid before being seated and the lowest tip option provided was 25% despite there being literally zero service other than our plates being brought to our table. Two sandwiches cost us $35 so we didn’t dare get any drinks. After paying we were told our table number and had to find it ourselves. We received our food and immediately knew our baguette was not made in house but from frozen. As we finished our meal, the table next to us asked an employee to have their $15 quiche warmed up because the inside was entirely cold. This told us that another menu item was from frozen as well. Maybe the pastries would have been better, but in the end it was very overpriced, average quality, overall...
Read moreThis place is in a category of its own. Exceptional is an understatement! Yesterday, I had this to die for avocado brioche w duck fat smoked salmon micro greens cucumber and served with soft boiled egg. It had this beyond maple drizzle. 🍁 Oh dear, was it good. I added a pistachio apricot macaroon. The lightest, most heavenly and if you regularly read my reviews you know I am very selective about macaroons. These here are even better than the ones at that French bakery in Montreal! Delicate creamy flavors burst in your mouth like a time out from everything, but that little moment of sweet heaven. I had to go back today. I could not stop myself. I was greeted by name my second time here. The ladies behind the counter are so friendly. I ordered the breakfast sandwich today. I have not got to eat it yet but boy, does it look good. I also got a mini blueberry cheesecake that is so cute. I bought a whole country bacon quiche to take home. I am lucky I did nit buy the whole store. This bakery salad, sandwich, breakfast stop is a must. They are pricey, honestly. You are paying for quality and perfection and you get it...
