I almost never write a bad review for a restaurant but steer clear of this place - it is horrible. The first sign of trouble was there were only 2 other tables seated in their enormous dining room. The second sign is a near empty restaurant with a gigantic menu that was completely unfocused. Maybe it is only my family but I would never order sushi from an empty restaurant - scary. There was only one woman working the front of the house and she literally was sprinting between tables. I will let the restaurant get a pass on this one because with covid staffing has been an issue. My advice to her is stop running - it does not make you more efficient. It stresses customers and does not create a calm enjoyable dining environment. We ordered salt and pepper shrimp, tried to order one of the many duck dishes but they were out so we got a horrible fried chicken nugget dish that was inedible and very mediocre dry cooked green beans. Salt and pepper is one of my favorite cooking techniques in Chinese cuisine. Shrimp is very lightly floured and flash fried with the head and shell on - almost like a tempura. Then it is tossed with sauteed onions, scallion, peppers, hot peppers, ginger, and , you guessed it salt and pepper. You are suppose to eat the whole shrimp, shell and all mixed with the little salty spicy bits. Asian Bistro's version literally came out of the kitchen completely burned - like black, over breaded, burned grease all over the plate, and the black side of the shrimps all facing down like we would not notice. IT was horrible. When we told the waitress that it was burnt and terrible she would not refund us and this is why they are getting only one star. There is NO way the cook did not realize he burned the food as he carefully flipped all the shrimp thinking we would not notice. How can you trust a restaurant with ethics like this. The fried chicken dish was equally terrible. You know you are in trouble when the batter on something fried is 3 times bigger than the actual thing they were frying. This was literally the crappiest meal I have eaten in Vermont. There are many many better choices of Asian food in the area....
Read moreVery poor experience. I have never had this kind of situation happen in all my years of dining out. This place was empty except for our table, and it was about 8pm. We ordered sushi that was ok at best, but that's not what the review is about. We had paid for our meal and left the establishment when the waitress ran into the street and yelled for our attention... just to ask if the tip that was left was correct. I told her that it was, and that it was not acceptable to chase a customer across the cross walk because you thought you deserved more of a tip. I felt as if I had to give her more money for her to leave me alone. I had to tell her several times to have a good night and that I didn't want to speak about this any further. This went on for about 5 minutes and I literally had to turn away from her and enter my car, just to exit the situation. I have waited tables before and I would have never dreamed to chase a customer down the street to demand more money, even if no tip was left at all. Again, just a very...
