We were visiting Williston from Nebraska and when we travel we like to look for local beers whenever possible. This was the closest we thought we would find to that in Williston.
We sat at the bar with hopes to enjoy 2-3 new beers between the two of us. We asked about a flight but they wanted $15 for four 8 oz tasters. That seemed a little steep from my experience at breweries and bars in the past so we passed. The bartender was by herself for about 20 customers so it was hard to get her attention or get much service. I asked for one sample of a local beer but couldn’t get much more than that. The poor girl was working hard but she needed more help at 5pm.
I asked about the “Williston Brewing Company” beers and she told us they were brewed in Minnesota and then shipped to Williston due to anti-brew laws in Williston. I had the Oil Bust Brew and my wife had the Bakken Hefeweizen. They were both easy drinking, good beers but I wouldn’t write home about them.
We ordered a pizza to split. Good thing we did because it was too big for one person to reasonably eat alone. The other entrees sounded good but prices were a little higher than I was willing to pay and we weren’t that terribly hungry.
The major complaint I had about this business was how cold it was at the bar. We were freezing! It was only 75 degrees outside but they had the air blowing cold, cold air around the bar. Drinking a cold beer and feeling cold air blow on me was not a good combination. We only ate half of our pizza, skipped on a second beer each and took the rest of our food home where it was warmer.
I’m glad we got to try a new “local” beer in Williston but we won’t be back next time we come...
Read moreWas in town for work. Stopped in to have a dinner with friends. We went on a Wednesday night and it was fairly busy. Service was fine for how many people were at the restaurant. We never had empty glasses and the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Food was very good. Had the pasta arrabiata, which I was surprised to see on a menu here as even in most Italian restaurants it isn’t that common. It was made well and I ate the whole thing before I could grab a picture. A little reliant on the sauce vs using fresh peppers and tomatoes, but it was overall a great meal that nailed the high points of the dish. I would defiantly order again/recommend it. The flavors were pretty spot on as was the meat added to the dish. Had a great beer selection, the only improvement I would recommend is the temperature of the beer. It was consistently warm, which could be due to the amount of people and the servers being busy, however it was constant through the 6 our table had at different times. It did not impact the beers disappearing. Overall we were very impressed with the restaurant and would defiantly go back. Bonus points for having the free stickers as you walk in, it’s not a big deal for most, but for some like me that collect them it is greatly...
Read moreI was not in the mood for my usual two hard shell tocos and green tea when I came to Williston this week and decided prime rib I deserved for a change. I went on line and saw Williston Brewing Company. I heard anout and saw FB posts it was an excellent place to eat and the food is out of this world. I can testify that was the best prime rib I gave ever eaten in my life. It had just the right amount of fat and was 98% meat and so tender. I later learned the boss himself answer the phone for my order and when asked if could bring to my car said he would. He brought my food out in a timely manner and I visited with a very polite visionary young man. I learned he and others involved in the business were planning a new facility in the future. With the food they serve, the personality of this owner and his accommodating staff I will again chose this steakhouse on my next medical trip...
