I love crab and the food here was good but the reason for the low star rating is how the our server made us feel. The person that served us was an older Asian lady, she seems like she was part of management. She saw our friend that was previously there and said she'd give us a 10% discount. She seemed nice at first but the more she talked the sneakier she seemed. We already knew about the getting 10% off for sharing their Grand Opening Flyer until the end of January on Facebook was going to do that regardless since we've been looking forward to this placing opening up for awhile. Later while we were ordering she told us if we check into Facebook that we would get $5 off our bill.
We had our food and it was good. The other servers that came to help get us refills and things were great. Had a good experience until that older Asian lady came back to check us out for our bill. We showed her that we checked in. Then she prompted to tell us that we could only pick one of the two offers and that they don't stack. I understand not letting promotional offers stack but please don't make it seem like it is then say no. She proceeded to tell us pick one and that should could only apply one $5 discount per check in and to just pick which discount we preferred. We were going to just pay individually, 6 of us at $5 would be $30 total savings. Then she got my wife to think 10% off would be better for the two of us and my wife agreed and paid before I could say anything. so we ended up saving $6 between us two instead of $10. Then when it came to my friends that did not check in yet, she had them do so to get the 10% that she said she was going to give in the first place and did not bring up the $5 off option. Then she said they had to say something good about it like it was yummy.
This is just not how a business should be ran. I know my friend's will not say anything because they're too nice but they all felt mislead afterwards. I would've much preferred them to not have tried to pretend to be nice and the experience would've been fine. We would've shown our share of the Grand Opening Flyer for 10%, had some good food, and probably recommended this place to others because the rest of the staff was nice. Like I stated previously we were excited and waiting for this place to open and since the food was good would've probably helped promote the place, but after dealing with the older Asian lady we just felt that she was sneaky and we...
Read moreI’m a low country boil expert ✅ Baton rouge to Ocean City. This place is simply NOT what you’re looking for if that’s the type of seafood connoisseur that you are. I appreciate the cleanliness of the environment, the decor is cute and the staff are so pleasant. The cooks are doing a fine job also! This is unfortunately a product issue.
I didn’t come here expecting from the boat to the table, but the meat inside of the crab legs was disintegrating. Not just stuck to the shell but was clearly a frozen product that has been frozen and recooked more than once. They were small scrap like pieces like the kind you see on a chinese buffet. I gave up on the crab legs. The shrimp are very rubbery and not the kind of rubbery like when they’re cooked too long. The kind of rubbery like they simply aren’t real shrimp.
The sausage was not an andouille or cajun taste, it had a sweeter taste to it which may be for some but isn’t for me. The seasoning I ordered was spicy garlic butter. Again, it was sweet more so than spicy. I seen another review mention this and chose to come in here anyways and try it out for myself. It’s true. It was probably my least favorite seasoning i’ve ever had, anywhere.
The potatoes were great. That’s what I mostly ate because everything else was so mediocre.
The corn was ok. Nothing good or bad to say.
I didn’t try the egg, because I truly was already experiencing disappointment and the egg was going to really hold in that strange sweet flavor of the boil and that was going to be awful with the egg taste.
I gave it a 3 because the staff and environment were lovely. This was my first and last time here though because the quality was so terrible. It truly gave me a “frozen dinner” quality of food. The pricing is comparable to places with a better taste.
My favorite place so far without that “boat to table” price tag is hook and reel in Jacksonville. I highly recommend the environment of this place, the staff and baby the food is to die for. Huge selection of boils and seasonings/sauce. I’ve gone there every other week for about five months now and the experience is the same every time. Ain’t nothing else in Jacksonville worth my time but hook and reel influences my trip there without a...
Read moreMy recent experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Tuesday special with added sausage and eggs, seasoned with the house blend at mild spice. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was unacceptable.
The corn was overcooked, the shrimp were rubbery and difficult to peel, and the egg was so overdone that the yolk had turned green and gray. The snow crab was the most concerning—the shells were difficult to crack, the meat was dry, rubbery, and contained black gooey spots, clear indicators of being overcooked.
I addressed these concerns with my server, Natalie, who handled the situation with professionalism and empathy. She apologized sincerely and attempted to resolve the matter but explained she was not permitted to replace the food or adjust the bill without her manager’s approval.
When the manager, Carrie, came over, her approach was aggressive, dismissive, and unprofessional. Rather than inspecting the food or listening to my concerns, she immediately stated, “No it’s not, I had it last night and it was fine.” She refused to remove even the snow crab from my tab and spoke in a disrespectful manner throughout our interaction. This is not acceptable management behavior toward a paying customer.
Additionally, the restroom conditions were unsanitary. The sink had visible black mold, toilet paper was scattered on the floor, and the floors were sticky, suggesting they had not been properly cleaned in quite some time. This raises serious concerns about overall cleanliness and food safety practices within the establishment.
While I greatly appreciated Natalie’s professionalism, the poor quality of the food, the lack of accountability from management, and the unsanitary conditions make it impossible for me to recommend this restaurant. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, and employees deserve leadership that supports them rather than...
