I am not exaggerating when I say this is my favorite place in Wilmington, Delaware. The staff are always responsive and friendly, the line is never long, and it's open til midnight (and doesn’t close early — you can order at 11:55 pm!) Unlike other fast food locations, I’ve never been handed the wrong order or randomly told that they can only take cash. Not once!
Growing up in Kentucky, I never viewed KFC as all that special, but when I moved to Delaware in February, I came here looking for something approximating familiarity, even if that just meant seeing the word “Kentucky” on the side of the cup. Since then, the constancy of this place has truly been a rock in life’s storm. I love the short or non-existent lines. I love that my order is always right. I love that no matter what time of day it is, the drive-thru voice box always launches into its automated “we're closed” recording before a live employee cuts in after a few seconds. I love that when they are consistently out of chicken sandwich filets after 11 pm, I can simply order my favorite Taco Bell combo instead! Everything about this place works just right. And with fast food, that’s all I could ever ask for.
Tonight, a little after 11 pm, when they’d run out of chicken sandwiches as they understandably do at that time, instead of switching to my preferred Taco Bell combo, I simply ordered a large Baja Blast and decided to hit up Wawa later. When I reached the window, the kind employee told me she’d charged my large drink as a medium as a courtesy because of their shortage. It was a sweet gesture — unnecessary and genuine. And it reminded me why this location is so...
Read moreI rated 3 stars 2 years ago apparently. I don't remember doing that, but it hasn't changed, and it might even go down. The food can be good at times, but just now (Friday Oct, 8 @10:30pm) we went to pick some food up and I checked when it closes, it says 12am and still says 12am. We also saw a car receive food so we thought we were in the clear. We roll up to the window and while we wait we discuss what we want. Maybe 15 mins goes by and we haven't been greeted at all. My mom asks nicely if anyone is there twice, then suddenly all of the lights just shut off. We asked if they're closed or if the lights are having issues. We waited, asked again. They didn't even tell us anything. Not a "we're closed" or "we're no longer taking orders" just lights off. And there were others behind us. This may seem like we're just complaining, but when you're very hungry and your time is getting wasted at one restaurant when it's already late and others are starting to close, it irritates you. I hope things get...
Read moreService was good, but when I got home and was ready to eat my food. For the life of me I swear the portion of chicken was for my 1 year old grandson. The chicken tenders looked like kibbles and bits. I still can’t believe the people working their would even serve a grown person those portions. I ordered a 3 piece chicken tenders meal. And got a 3 piece chicken nuggets meal. If they didn’t feeling like making more, either say they’re out of it or give more. I spend my hard earned money on trying to keep people employed during a pandemic, but I don’t like to be short changed with my food either. This was a rip off in my book and I’m hesitant about any future visits...
