Maven Coffee — Restaurant in Wilmington

I just went to Maven for the first time with my boyfriend and I had the best experience. I am very picky about coffee and I also don’t know a lot about what I like so that makes me an indecisive customer! But, Ashley, the barista took her time to explain the process of what goes into each drink, help me choose what fit my palate, and was EXTREMELY kind, patient and knowledgeable when helping me choose my drink. She even took the extra time to remake me a shot when the first one she did was not as good as it could be for the drink I ordered. She took the time and put in the effort to make a quality drink, it is easy to see that she has a passion for service and coffee. I wouldn’t even call her a “barista” she is far beyond that. I put off coming here for too long. I looked online to preview which coffee beans I was interested in having Nicolas pull for me when I arrived. I expected to ask for a certain bean when I walked in but he asked how much I know about coffee and I told him I'm a home roaster. My man then pulls out a special stash of Geisha beans from Columbia he had behind the counter. This looked like an illegal deal going down but I assure it was probably 100% legal. What was not legal was how criminally smooth and floral that shot of espresso was. When I tell you this was the best shot of espresso I've ever had, it's like saying Mozart was pretty good at music. Please don't do what I did and delay going here. You are missing out on a part of your life you didn't know you wanted. Great coffee doesn't need to pass you...

Wow! Great experience from the second I walked in the door. Barista was kind, knowledge and attentive. I was apprehensive about the espresso because it's medium roast...but it was FANTASTIC! Great tasting espresso. I learned that if medium roast espresso is done correctly, that i love it as much as dark roast. I got the Smores Latte. Extremely well crafted, even the finishing smoke. Not too sweet, so you can still taste the espresso. Exact right temperature. Hot but not too hot to scorch the milk. Perfect frothing of the milk. All the components that make a perfect hot latte for me. What A treat! I'll be back.
