I have been going here for several years now. Not the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had, but pretty tasty, satisfying and good value for the price. I always get the super size beef which is always a decent size for the $. Super has onion roll, have to ask for plain roll if you don't want onion. I usually get the seasoned fries. Which are just chunks of potatoey criss cut fries. Not really seasoned tasting or spicy at all. So don't expect that from the name. Actually kind of bland, like regular fries, but very good and thick and great with ketchup. Thick and potatoey when not cooked too much where they're just too crispy. Although I know some people like very crispy. I think these particular fries are best just very lightly crisp outside and soft and potatoey inside. Delicious when they cook them just right. I always ask for lightly cooked when possible. I've only really ordered roast beef and seasoned fries there, so couldn't speak for the rest of the menu. I usually go there because they have a drive thru and are always open very late. Much later than the other places around. Until 1:30am during the week, 2am Thursday, and 3am on the weekends. Always super busy on late Saturday nights. Never been to a roast beef place that wasn't kinda pricey for sandwiches, but pretty reasonable here. Just basic good roast beef and snacks that are available late nights for average reasonable prices. Sauce for sandwiches is good and just a little spicy which I like. If you like to order your sauce on the side like me so it doesn't get soggy on the way home, you will have to remind them at the window. Because 90% of the time they won't remember to put it in the bag if you don't. Other than that service is always great and employees are very polite and nice. Definitely recommend if you're hungry and looking for something not too overpriced. And great for late night Scooby snacks! 3 stars for food, average but good. 4th star for late night hours and decent prices compared to other roast beef places. Just wish they would be more consistent with how long they cook the seasoned fries. Been over cooked several times which I hate Xtra crispy and not...
Read moreThis location has been visited by my and family since 1979 it started as a Jack in the Box (orders made into large plastic Clown head LOL), Bill and Bob's roast beef, and now Simards roast beef.
Now this place is open late 2 or 3am, witch is very cool for those late night munchies. Simards is really playing off the success and great late night food that Bill and Bob's used to serve. In the beginning and even for several years it was good but it was missing that Bill and Bob's touch.
But as of late your better of with a frozen meal from your home. Or plan ahead and shop for groceries at Market Basket (My opinion greatest grocery store in America)
Ok back to this place small portions and $$$$$$$ super pricey.
I mean ridiculous amount of money for sub-par food.
If your not aware Massachusetts is known for roast beef drive through places.
Kelly's Roast beef and many others. Mentioned in movies with Mark Walberg.
So for this place to lack pride and ownership of Massachusetts greatest traditions is a shame.
The smallest sandwiches in the state poor microwave tasting roast beef on cold stale rolls.
And fried food ok but can they fill the boxes or get smaller boxes I mean 5 single wings in a large cardboard box who do they think they are fooling its the only late night food in this one horse town Wilmington, but to gouge the people for money is greedy and scummy.
No milk shakes In 90 plus degree weather come on invest in what the people want.
But I know why its easier to sell sugar water drinks for 700% mark up.
So I give it 2 stars 🌟🌟only because if you are starving to death at 1am you might be able to force it down.
Don't judge Massachusetts Roast beef on this Greedy run down gross beef hole.
Anyone that can prove otherwise Let me know: David Needham aka (THE BICYCLE GUY)
ps. Omg I just noticed Simards "Super" roast beef.
SUPER PLEASE...
Read moreI didn't want to pay attention to the negative Google reviews when we found Simard's on Google Maps, while riding home at 2am. Sadly, those reviews are SPOT ON. The sandwiches, 2 "super" beefs, barely had any meat and what little there was was cold. It was odd to bite into a roast beef sandwich and just get bun and sauce. I kept thinking, “Is this a joke? They really are this bad??” The fries were awful too (flash fried - hot on the outside, raw/cold and hard on the inside.).
I feel bad writing this but it was really bad. It must be an alternative dimension experience for those who post rave reviews. I tried 2 bites of the falling apart sauce sandwich on cold soggy bread, ate one fry and then tossed it. My husband followed suit. The meals were $13.00 (w/o tax) each. I really should have taken photos to show what a bad joke it was.
The young woman at the window was a sweetheart. I would totally hire her. Any stars go to her. And as others have mentioned, there is a bit of a wait in line. - which was not really an issue since we knew we were waiting for our food to be prepped. Or so we thought it was…..
If you're heading up to the North Shore and want roast beef - check out Atha's in Peabody or Nick's Famous Roast Beef in North Beverly, Kelly's is good but a lot of hype. Bill & Bob's in Salem is great for...
