Mediocre. We will not be going back. We went for Valentine's Day, our first time visiting and we were extremely disappointed. Bare with my review, I have a lot to say.
We were seated along the long booth when you first walk in to the right. There was already a couple sitting next to where they wanted us to sit, and there was NO way either one of us were squeezing in between our table and theirs to get to the booth side to sit. When I tell you it was a whopping five inches one of us had to squeeze through, Im not exaggerating. When I asked if we could sit elsewhere, I was told no as this was the setup for the Valentines Night, so there was no other option. We got there pretty early and there were a TON of empty tables that they could have allowed us to be seated at. I had the option of squeezing in or jumping over the end of the booth which would have been embarrassing. We should have left at this point and it was already a start to an annoying night. Needless to say, my ass was in another couples face while I wiggled through to my seat and I had to continuously apologize because I felt so bad for them. I was very disappointed at the fact they couldn't sit us elsewhere and we ate our dinner 5 inches away from another couple. We sat there in silence most of the night due to not feeling like we could talk. You could tell the other couple did the same...... Not a way to spend an evening out with your significant other, whether it was V-Day or any other date night.
For it to not be busy, it took FOREVER for our drinks and food to come out. We ordered two drinks from the bar, was about 15 mins from the time we ordered. Again, NOT busy whatsoever yet. (6:30p). Not to mention our margaritas were horrible ($15 each). Our food took even longer and people that came after us were getting their food first (i know we placed our order before them.) This could be a kitchen issue or a wait staff issue depending on when it was actually put into the computer.
FOOD quality - we are SO glad we ordered the fajitas that were half price on fridays. I honestly would have been so pissed if we paid full price for our meals. It looked delicious, but the taste was NOT there. Food is definitely mediocre.
The atmosphere was ok - their only giving grace is the view, which it only great during the day (the marina at night if you are sitting in the right spot)
To summarize, just don't waste your time visiting. There are SO many other great restaurants downtown with great views and atmospheres, let along amazing food that you can get for the same price, or cheaper.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself some disappointment....
Read moreHad had an appetizer at the bar months ago that was okay--not great, but good enough to give it another try. So my daughter and I came for dinner on a Monday night in mid-June and, unfortunately, neither of us was impressed at all, which is a shame because the vibe is good and they have one of the very best river views in town.
She got ceviche (maybe not the best pick for a Monday night but it was the only night we had, and if something isn't fresh, don't serve it...) and it was just...meh. Fish was a little rubbery and it didn't have the citrusy freshness and 'zip' one orders ceviche for. I had mahi tacos and they were mediocre. Fish was in very small pieces, too fried, and the toppings and sauces just buried any flavor, which maybe was the point, I don't know.
I started with a beer since you can't really go wrong there, but had a Paloma later on. I love a good Paloma, and this wasn't it. Weak, and bland. My daughter was equally disappointed in the two cocktails she tried.
While we were there a manager was called to a nearby table, and our server later confided that they had complained to him because she had put their check on the table without them having asked for it. I asked her for ours just so she could get it out of the way (was about 1/2 hour till their stated closing time) and because we weren't going to order anything else, but then she kept coming back, repeatedly, like every 5 minutes, to get it, even though she should have seen that we hadn't yet touched it. That was a little annoying, but perhaps she was inexperienced. She was pleasant.
Husband and I went, maybe a month later, just for beer, and someone brought chips and salsa, apparently thinking we were eating, although we'd fetched drinks ourselves at the upstairs bar and sat down. Salsa was really uninspired, I thought.
So, basically, that's what we do now--get a beer and enjoy the view. But have given up on the food. I will add that the staff and management seem like they care, so I hope they...
Read moreWe came here yesterday for my birthday dinner and I wish I could say it was great. It was anything but. The salsa was awful. It tasted like tomato sauce with red pepper flakes and garlic. The iced tea was so watered down it was barely a step above water and to pay $4 for it was ridiculous. The cheese dip wasn't that great, and it's usually hard to screw up, but they did. I ordered the pachunga which is a chicken breast and roasted pepper sauce and it was so salty. I took two bites and had to send it back. There was no way I could stomach eating it. My husband ordered the brisket tacos and the brisket meat was dry and flavorless. They dont flavor the meat at all before they cook it, they just drown it in pepper sauce and you need a lot of it bc the sauce doesn't have a lot of flavor itself. It's the same sauce that came with my salty chicken. The management did take care of us and took my meal off and I got the flautas in its place, but it was a super disappointing meal for a bday dinner. I pretty much sat at the table without food other than the chips and cheese dip for the whole meal. My husband ordered a cucumber jalapeno cocktail for $15 that came out in a super skinny glass and after 4 drinks was gone. He did say it was good thankfully. The rice that came with the tacos was also pretty tasty according to my husband. So out of the whole meal 2 small things were good. Unfortunately, what little I ate made me sick and I felt like I was gonna be sick by the time I got home and was in bed an hour later. So this place ruined my bday dinner and then my night. Still ended up with a $50 bill even after my meal was comped. Needless to say, we won't be back. I will say our server was kinda slow in the beginning, but got better as the night went on and he was really nice. The restaurant decor was also super cute. I just wish the food was better. I wanted more than chips and cheese dip, a flauta, and getting sick for...
