Southern Soul — Restaurant in Wilson

I gave it one star mainly because of the service and the atmosphere is not very friendly inviting or welcoming when you walk in there it's no Southern Hospitality. The young lady at the register with the nose ring or whatever that is in her nose was just leaning across the register area playing with her fingers she seemed annoyed that anyone was even in there asking for service it really kind of made it very uncomfortable to order anything four was walked in and only one walked out with a plate which was me I don't eat cheese at all so when I ask for the eggs without the cheese the older lady serving use the cheese egg spoon to serve my eggs without cheese and I told her my baby will have to try and eat it because she used the cheese spoon after me telling her I don't eat cheese my baby wouldn't even eat the eggs I'm not sure if the only realizes but the Grits are extremely salty I enjoyed a few pieces of the Fatback some were not cooked crispy the bacon does not have any kind of taste to it at all it was like low sodium or salt-free butts maybe they should offer different options for that because I hate getting bacon that does not taste like bacon they stop making fresh food around 10:15 so before it even gets 10:30 they go ahead and tell you what they don't have any more of in other words we ain't making nothing else I was very disappointed that was my first time going and I told Dad that...

Can't say I can believe all of the negative reviews here. I've been visiting this restaurant since they opened and the only issued I've ran into is running out of certain items on occasion....which isn't a bad thing at all! Everything I've had has been great. Sure, it's a NEW business and they are in a very challenging area. It takes a few months to get everything smoothed out. Cut them some slack while they iron out the wrinkles.

Never had any issues with any of the staff there. Then again, I always treat people the way I'd like to be treated and it makes all the difference. Ordered food, shared a few laughs with the ladies behind the counter, stared at all of those beautiful cheese biscuits while my plate was prepared, came home and enjoyed my meal. Lo and behold, one of those buscuits snuck into my bag Man! They're dangerously delicious!. I tried the BBQ chicken, green beans, and black eyed peas. There was NOTHING left in my plate. It was all delicious. Everything I've had during their breakfast service has been tasty as well.

As far as food options, if you can't find anything to eat there that tickles your fancy, either you're not hungry, or like myself, you want to try it all, but don't have room. :)

Stop trying to decided what you want to eat and head over to Southern Soul and let them take care of what's on your plate for a time or two. You'll be glad...

Yall, when I tell you this is the best food I have had in years. I travel a lot and I try a lot of new establishments and this place has won my heart. The staff alone makes you feel at home when you walk in the door. They have a nice variety of food, and its hard to make a decision on what to eat. When I tell you I have not eaten anywhere in a long time were everything on the plate was good, no crumb left behind. Hunny!! Had 2 plates, hamburger and gravy on white rice and Turkey wings on white rice. Each plate comes with 2 sides, yams, greens, mac & cheese, and cabbage were the sides. I also got a side of the party wings which is coated in their own special barbq sauce blend. When I tell you, those Turkey and party wings were falling off the bone, and the meat was not dry. Before I left the area I had to go back and get some additional food to take home. Plates were 10/10, no exaggeration. Somebody Grandma back there in that kitchen throwing down Hunny. Go give it a try!! They dont have a busy parking lot because everybody pretty much does pickup and go plates. Don't be discouraged if you dont see anybody in the parking lot ( I almost turned away myself) because you will definitely miss out on some good food...
