The food here is somewhat passable but only because there is no competition- it’s not like there are any other choices for Korean foods or many other Asian foods in Winchester. I have only chosen this place recently because I was given gift cards. Just always seems to leave me disgruntled with a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure if the owners have remained the same up until now. Years ago I applied for waitstaff when they had a help wanted sign in the window. The older Korean woman who received my application inappropriately grilled me about my personal life- how old I was, whether I had a car, was married, had children. Thankfully I didn’t get the job. The times I saw her later she was berating staff in front of customers. One time I ordered to go and while awaiting my food sat at the counter watching the chef, an older Korean gentleman, make sushi. He scowled at me for a while and then barked at me to move to another seat. There may have been one or two times where I did dine in only because I was invited by family/friends and the service was decent. I was there this week (Valentine’s Day) for a called in order, only because I had a gift card. The young woman was professional enough on the phone and correctly gave me the wait time of 40 minutes. However when I arrived to pick it up and went to the counter she did not look up at all the entire time from the cash register, no greeting, no eye contact. Roughly asked what I was picking up and gave me the total and pushed a receipt in my face. Just very curt, rude, speaking forcefully to other staff. Very negative vibes and made me feel uncomfortable. A customer came in after me and politely asked for a to go menu, and this young woman told her she didn’t have one so the customer just turned around and left. Food was so-so and very skimpy portions of bulgogi in the bulgogi jobchae and ingredients...
Read moreI would easily give this place a 5-star review if only based on the food. I meet family members here as a spot we enjoy that's a convenient meeting place in between where we live. I've had two strange experiences here. The first was about a year ago. We ate, were given our check, and stayed socializing. We were given the stink eye by our server and other staff as we remained there even though no customers were waiting, hardly anyone else dining, and it was more than an hour before they closed when we left. I was there again meeting family last Saturday. We continued to socialize after eating and after two hours to the minute of when we sat down, we were approached by our server. She told us that the sushi chef had insisted that she come tell us that tables have a 2-hour maximum limit and that we had to leave. Again, no customers were waiting, very few diners, many open tables even with social distancing, and mid-afternoon -- post lunch crowd and well before any dinner rush. I don't recall seeing anything posted or on the menu about a 2-hour limit for tables. Perhaps I missed it, but it doesn't particularly matter because we are unlikely to return. FWIW, we tip over 20 percent and always tip the sushi chef, and I've never had what I would consider exceptional service there. Of course, it's their establishment and their rules, but our past two experiences there were nothing short of rude. I am glad something was actually said on Saturday because it explained the passive-aggressive behavior from our...
Read moreI absolutely love their pho and sushi. This is my go to Asian food place for Winchester. Midday Wednesday I had a waitress who was absolutely fantastic. Some of the best service I've ever had.
Unfortunately, if it's later in the day/evening and a gentleman is the waiter, my advice is to just leave. Once before my partner and I ordered a large amount of sushi. My partner was new to sushi and ordered simple fully cooked rolls. The gentleman said he had a problem mixing up orders and needed to take a few extra minutes to check that ours was right. We get home to discover that instead of "beginner" sushi rolls my partner was given eel and fish eggs. Not what he wanted at all.
Last night I decided to give the gentleman a second chance because people make mistakes. I can understand food taking a while. I can understand being busy. I cannot fathom being held hostage by the check for 45 minutes. My friend and I waited twenty minutes after we had finished eating before he finally flagged him down and asked for the check. It took another twenty five minutes to receive the check and pay to leave. All we got was a half mumbled apology about the wait. If I see that is their person in charge again, I will turn on my...
