Decor is attractive. When I walked in, someone from the kitchen shouted, "You got one, Chris," to the bartender. That was awkward! Ordered the he mac and cheese, which is fine, and the Mediterranean feta bake, which was shockingly inedible. We were actually too embarrassed to say anything. (At any rate, the waiter didn't check on us so we would have had to trek back inside to do so.) Only in hindsight did we wish we had returned it to the kitchen -- that's on us! Yet it is hard to imagine that being called a "dish": warmed canned tomatoes with a few garbanzos, feta chunks, and raw green peppers stirred in. It sounded much better on the menu! Tried one of the ciders and it was tasty -- perhaps this will be more of an establishment for drinkers. There was nothing non-alcoholic available at the bar, but there is a limited selection of canned sodas if you're not there for the cider. We truly wish this place the best -- any addition to downtown's dining scene is welcome! Hopefully our experience was atypical and part of the...
Read moreI had previously tasted some of the Winchester Ciderworks products at the NOVA Brewfest and had been meaning to stop in at some point. The release of Sour Puss being mentioned on social media as well as the opening of the tasting room was enough of a reason for me to make the 1.5 hour drive up to the valley. The Sour Puss was excellent, and the tasting room looks amazing. Fantastic work on the finish on the bar folks! I tasted everything available and was amazed that each cider seemed just a little bit better than the previous one. This made deciding what to take back home with me a bit of a conundrum. My solution of course was to bring some of everything back. The growler of Va Ginga had already been consumed. My wife has no idea what else is in store for her in the other bottles and cans. I would recommend that a guest wifi network be established. No reception to speak of in the large tin box. How are your customers going to share their experiences on social media if they...
Read moreWe were really excited to try this spot out as we saw it when we were walking around downtown during apple blossom. We went in and there was not many people there. The bartender let us know that he would need to change the CO2 tank, which was fine with us as we were finalizing our decisions. After that was done we continued to wait patiently but it seemed the bartender was more interested in striking up conversation with other patrons and checking his phone rather than taking our orders. We had been told "we will be right with you" three times at this point. It was not until we turned to leave that we were finally asked for our orders. There was another employee who seemed to be wiping tables that nobody had even been sitting at. Again, we totally understood the CO2 needing to be changed, but having to wait about 15-20 minutes to order with less than ten people in the building...
