I would come to this coffee shop often after my OB and maternal-fetal medicine appointments at the hospital, and after the interaction with who I assume is the owner today, my husband and I won’t be going back and won’t continue recommending it. I’m currently 9 months pregnant, and my husband and I stopped in after our first check and labor and delivery. I was working on my laptop at a table and had already had my coffee this morning, so I was waiting a little bit before ordering a drink or snack. I was there for no more than 15-20 minutes when the owner walked over and asked if she could get me anything, and I said that I was fine for right now, thank you. She then said “this is a business, not a free Internet cafe.” My husband, who had ordered a coffee and was sitting at a table away from me because he needed more space to work, said that I was with him, and she said ok and walked away. I was so taken aback by the negativity of the interaction. I could understand if I was there for an hour or two without ordering, but being there for so little time hardly warrants harassment about WiFi, especially when every other person in the cafe had ordered something but me. What a terrible attitude to have about...
Read moreHaving recently relocated to the area, I visited for the first time on a Sunday morning. The location is great, within walking distance from where I live. I ordered an Americano and breakfast sandwich, and sat at the bar. Instead of placing the coffee in front of me, they take it to the front, where everyone is milling around. I walk in between a half dozen people, who are waiting to order, and pick up my coffee. I mention this to the person I ordered from(and tipped generously!!) that it would have been more convenient if the coffee were just placed at the bar. The Americano was delicious. Four minutes later, the same person who placed the coffee at the front, places my breakfast sandwich at the front of the counter. I walk over to pick up my breakfast sandwich and say nothing more. The sandwich was as cold and forgettable as the service. I walked to Hopscotch Coffee (at Bonnie Blue's) and it was outstanding. My first impression of Espresso was a huge disappointment. I won't be recommending it to anyone,...
Read moreIt’s a shame that we had such a lousy experience at espresso because we’ve been coming here for a long time. I brought my friend that was visiting from out of town and we told him how good the soup and coffee was. We were told in a rather brash manner by the older lady that works there that we couldn’t bring food from outside which we understand. However, it was just two small baguette from knead bread and we only brought it because they told us a Knead that they carry their pastries there so we figured it would be ok. We’re also vegan so we just wanted a little more sustenance to go with our soup. Because the soup with two crackers is all a vegan can have there that’s hearty. Again this was two little baguettes that we brought in. My friend who is not vegan bought a sandwich and coffee we ordered soups, all in all in was $30 that we spent at espresso. We felt awkward and decided to just take our food to go. They lost two long...
