Chute's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Windham

The food here is great and they had gluten free bread when we stopped in.

Service, however, is not even close to decent.

They were super busy when we walked in and after just under 30 minutes waiting for a table we were just about to leave when they called us for a table. Waitress didn’t even approach us to ask if we wanted coffee for another 5 minutes and it was only after another waitress overheard us say we were going to leave if she didn’t come check on us. It then took nearly another 30 minutes to get our food and we only received it after I asked how long it would be - by the time we received it my plate of food was cold, indicating it had been sitting for at least a little bit. While we were waiting for our food, we watched our waitress serve a table their french toast and respond with “Whatever” when they asked for butter and syrup because she had not brought any.

During this time, the staff were friendly and making small talk with locals they knew by name and getting them coffee/taking their orders as soon as they sat down. This place has great food but they clearly can’t accommodate the volume of customers they have and have staff who seem to not mind being outright rude to folks that aren’t...

Take out orders are not their strong suit. Given the rise in take orders everywhere due to the pandemic this was very surprising. Had to ask for everything and then still only got 3 tiny packets of ketchup and no syrup or butter for our pancakes for our two large breakfast orders. Given that we were calling in a take out order we shouldn't have even had to ask. The person taking our order should have asked us what we needed while taking the order. When we started asking for utensils and napkins while placing our order it should have been clear that we were traveling through and didn't have anything with us. Overall the service we received was subpar at best (this wasn't the only issue) which means will not be going back any time soon. Its too bad because the food was actually quite tasty. Mistakes do happen but I have ZERO patience for not having everything I need and asked for when I get to my destination to eat my meal. When restaurants all over the place are complaining about their lost revenues and screaming that they may be forced to close you'd think that they'd step up the customer service so that all customers have a great experience. Showed up and waited for over an hour had multiple parties come in long after we came in and parties that came in after were seated before us. The atmosphere here just comes out as rude. The staff is unhelpful, unorganized and disrespectful. Teach your waitstaff how to do the bare minimum of their jobs and put a fake smile on their face at least. There is currently what looks like dry wall in the beverage as well (image below). Update: the waitress took our order and we got breakfast only to have her come back over 10 minutes later to tell us that breakfast is not served on Sunday. I’m shocked that the staff would be unaware of this while we were placing the order. Stuck to further waiting. We arrived at this place at 11:30 it is currently 1:00 just got food. Had to ask the waiter to to remove the drywall milk honestly happy I just got to finally be done with this place and leave.
