I got delivery NOT THROUGH UBER EATS OR DOOR DASH YES THEY HAVE THEIR OWN DELIVERY SERVICE THE DRIVER I HAD WAS A YOUNGER MAN WITH GLASSES HE WAS FAST COURTEOUS AMD EVEN OFFERED TO BRING ME AN UPDATED MENU NEXT TIME HE IS IN MY AREA. HAVING GROWN UP IN RESTAURANT AND OWNING ONE MYSELF AND ALSO STILL IN SERVICE INDUSTRY. PLZ SUPPORT LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS. I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE LIVED IN WINSTON 4 YEARS AND NEVER KNEW THIS PLACE EXSISTED ( IM A BUS RIDER) BUT ITS A DIAMOND 💎 IN THE ROUGH FOR QUICK COUNTRY COOKING. SO FAR EVERYTHING I HAVE TRIED IS PERFECTLY SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS 🤤 EVEN IF U R A VEGETARIAN AMD OTHER DIET RESTRICTIONS ALL FRIENDLY OPTIONS TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR CHAIN PLACES. I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY MORE DAILY SPECIALS AS TIME GOES ON. BE THE FOOD THE SERVICE U KNOW THESE PEOPLE CARE. GREAT FOR A HOME COOK MEAL DOMT FORGET BREAKFAST AND ESPECIALLY DESSERT. Once again, disparity in reviews was part of what drew me here, particularly (and curiously) the different opinions on the gravy. So let’s start there. I think the gravy controversy is a matter of semantics—people have different ideas about what the term “gravy” connotes. Many assume it is sausage based. The simple fact here is that Grandma Ruby’s gravy is a basic milk gravy that has a pleasant, if plain, taste. You can, upon request, make it sausage gravy or chipped beef gravy (or as they call it “chip beef” 😂). So I think the gravy is fine as long as you know what you’re getting. Eggs over easy were perfect, grits were flavorful, bologna was tender and tasty, the coffee was good, but the fried tenderloin lacked seasoning. Once again we come to what is rapidly emerging as the biggest mystery to me on my breakfast adventures: the biscuit—taste was just ok, but once again at yet another breakfast establishment, the biscuit texture was spongy and unappealing. I am beginning to think that places are making their biscuits early in the morning and just letting them sit too long. Interior decor is cute but leans toward too busy. The staff was generally pleasant and attentive. Price and portions were acceptable. Would give 3.5...

I visited Grandma Ruby’s a while back and was not impressed. But I didn’t post a review because I wanted to give them another chance. So I visited for the second time and was once again underwhelmed by the quality of the food. I tried the pancakes, which were cloyingly sweet and what I would guess to be ordered from a local food service vendor- not good, and reminiscent of a popular pancake chain. The flavorless syrup was very poor quality as well. The bacon was tough and leathery and the sausage links were shriveled tubes of sausage-flavored grease; obviously reheated. The grits tasted like field corn and they were not creamy in the least. And wow the biscuit—once again, reheated. When I bit into it, it turned gummy and doughy in my mouth and had very little flavor. The coffee was average at best. Two things that I did like were the low price and friendly service, but unfortunately these things aren’t enough to entice a...

It was our 2nd visit to Winston and our 2nd time here. It was pouring rain 🌧️,the customer held the door, the female staff came to help us in, the male waiter we had was soooooo polite and the best customer service, Overall everything was great just like the first visit‼️ We did mention to one of the servers about an older female we met first visit who said she makes the cobblers who was super nice to us but she wasn't aware of who we mentioned, maybe 🤔 a guardian angel? Lol . But Try this place out‼️‼️‼️ You'll Enjoy It

Service was insanely quick despite being a full house and quite a small space. The entire staff seems to operate as a cohesive team. The cooks/kitchen are fully visible. My daughter got chocolate chip pancakes that had no business being so good and I tried a variety of things. (Bologna for breakfast? Sure! Grits? Sounds like a requirement! Chunks?! Let's do it I guess- it turns out they're just breakfast potatoes 😆) Everything was good and our entire bill was $14. My plate at a chain diner would have been $14 alone.

This is such a hidden gem of a breakfast/lunch diner. The food is amazing and tastes like the best homemade, wholesome fare you could make. I highly recommend the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole that is dessert without being overly sweet. 10/10 love this place. Also it is cheaper than McDonald's down the road and they do takeout if you don't have time to sit down.
