I'm not sure exactly what is going on with the University Parkway Starbucks. Normally, it is fantastic. I have never had an issue in the mornings, and prior to the remodel the same could have been said for the evenings.
Our visit last night however....well, they were struggling pretty hard. We arrived at 7pm, to maybe 3 customers inside already having their coffee. We ordered: a venti Iced Chai, chocolate croissant, and a tall Mocha Creme Frappucino with 1 pump raspberry for my 10 year old. The first thing I was asked was "do you want coffee in the Mocha creme Frappucino?"
This drink does not contain coffee. That's kinda the point. I gently pointed this out, and the young man agreed. The croissant came quickly, but our drinks took 10 minutes. In the meantime, drinks were being made for the drive thru (that showed up after me, I was standing where I could see). My daughter's drink was made, but mine took longer. I heard one barista confirming how to mix my Iced Chai with another.
In the meantime, our friends show up. They ordered, a bit more complicated due to some food allergies. A second group ordered after them.
It took 30 minutes for my friends to get 3 drinks. 2 had to be remade. The group behind them got their drinks and left.
After our visit, my daughter started telling me that she 'felt shaky'. When I asked her to describe it, it sounded exactly like caffeine jitters. Now I wonder if they made the Mocha Creme Frappucino with coffee instead of decaf.....but who knows?
I have long relied on Starbucks as I have an autoimmune GI disease that requires me to have decaf coffee ONLY. Drinking caffeinated coffee myself will cause me great stomach pain. In a way, I lucked out last night by getting the Chai. But now I'm looking at this location sideways and wondering....
Bad night, or staff that needs...
Read moreToday is the last time I go to this location (University in Winston Salem)! Usually everyone at Starbucks is so nice and welcoming. This evening I picked an order up in the drive-through that I placed for mobile order. The last time I picked up a mobile order at this location. The person that helped me told me that I can come straight to the window because they have it waiting so that’s what I did today. I get to the window and sit there for a good couple minutes before the window is even opened, which has never happened. The woman that opens the window is giving me a dirty look and proceeds to talk to me like a bad child that she is having to scold. She literally raised her voice at me and told me to never pull up to the window without stopping at the box 1st. I explain without the attitude that was given to me the reason that I did that. Imagine my surprise when she yells at me that she is the manager and the rule is that I have to stop at the box so they can put the Name in and said I don’t know who “they are” like I’m lying. Now, if it was a funny joke that the last person played on me and I should have definitely stopped at the box, she could have definitely brought that to my attention nicely. No wonder they never have all of the items that are popular or in season. This hateful, wretched woman is apparently in charge and due to this I will continue to go to Starbucks. However not this location! I will go where they treat the customers nicely, especially if the customer is being nice. I get the public can be hateful but I have done my time in customer service and also retail so I never treat anyone in customer service or retail badly. I’m disgusted and so upset! This woman...

Also, if you lack etiquette & class, you will fit right in at this Starbucks location.
The music was extremely inappropriate for a café setting.
NOTE: I am all for “daddy yankee” when I’m at the clubs in Miami or Las Vegas but not when I’m at a café trying to Relax & Work…. ¿Neta bro? …eye-roll
The staff were extremely unprofessional acting like little high schoolers carrying on in conversations and goofing off. Which again is appropriate if you’re in high school or middle school…Not grown adults….How embarrassing.
I live out of Manhattan and Charlotte, so I frequent cafés to work out of daily and this by far has been the worst. Just glad I was only passing by this area.
Please, somebody get an etiquette 101 book for the manager & staff for this Starbucks location. I understand it may not be their fault entirely. They may be uneducated at this point in their life’s and not well traveled & cultured.
Bottom line this Starbucks location is perfect for the LOWER CLASSES who can’t tell a difference between a Café & Club.
