Mountain Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

I unfortunately do not have many positive points to share about my experience at this establishment. Yesterday was not my first experience with Mountain Fried Chicken, but it was the worst experience I've had while visiting this restaurant. I have had very mediocre experiences in the past, but this experience was downright dreadful.

I ordered in the drive-thru and received my food in a timely manner. The employee whom I dealt with at the window was pleasant, but nothing to write home about.

I received the correct order and was on my way home.

Once I got home and settled, I opened up my food to begin eating. To my disappointment, the rice had NO seasoning on it. The gravy that I got with my rice was simply brown liquid, also with no flavor and or seasonings. The chicken was not seasoned, and the crispy skin that should have been was flaccid and soggy, as if it had been sitting under a warmer light for many hours.

On the drive-thru menu, it states “okra fried to order,” which was also not true, as my okra was the coldest thing on my plate when I opened it up to begin eating.

As I stated before, I have had lackluster experiences with Mountain Fried Chicken before, but today was the nail in the coffin, and I will not be back after that...

The restaurant is n the Big Lots parking lot. It was clean & not 2 crowded...no1 was seated inside eating & they do not provide table service but they do have a drive thru. The chicken tenders, wedges, mashed potatoes with gravy, & baked beans were delicious. The chicken wasn't greasy @ all. I paid $9 4 a 4piece tender plate with 2 veggies & a roll but no drink. However they do give u the biggest tenders I've ever seen! If u want all white meat chicken it's a $1.20 mark up per piece. They were extremely busy bc there was only 3 or 4 employees handling everything so they definitely need 2 hire more help. My order ended up bn just under $40 4 4 tender plates & no drinks. They got my order correct, the food was hot & delicious but the green beans had a little 2 much pepper on them & the generic roll kinda sucked + they 4got any butter or dipping sauces but they did supply me with plasticware & napkins n our bags. However it took about 16mins 4 them 2 get my takeout order ready. But we will b returning n the future...if not 2 this location then definitely another 1...

Just tried for the first time 45 minutes ago. EXTREMELY happy with everything mostly. I had the four-piece chicken dinner, which was two thighs and two legs, and my sides were pinto beans and the mac-and-cheese. The chicken was beyond perfect…scrumptious!! The pinto beans also were excellent; not everybody can season a pot of beans successfully, but they can. My only ding is the mac, which was a reddish color, and miles from the rich, creamy, cheesy noodles I expect when I think mac-and-cheese. However, although I won’t ever order it again, I did manage to eat quite a bit of it…something kept me going back in. I also got a side of chicken livers, and devoured them right away. They were fried beautifully, and seasoned perfectly.

So, overall my experience was five star, I was in and out in a flash, the place was clean, cozy and comfy, the staff were amazing, the prices were good, and my food was delicious. I’ll...
