My wife and young daughter frequented Benny's after visiting Altitude Trampoline Park. My daughter had a long day and missed her nap so we thought it would be best to stop off for pizza somewhere close on our way home. After Googling pizza places in the area we decided on Benny's. The counter staff were outstanding, quickly assisting us and preparing our order. The pizza selection was great and we decided on a plain Margherita slice for our daughter. Our daughter had never previously seen this type of slice and when it arrived to the table that is where the melt down began. The entire staff began to assist as I requested maybe just adding some cheese and they quickly did so. Everyone was asking my daughter if she was OK and what they could do. The slice with extra cheese came out but to no avail. Benny offered to make her a personal sized pizza which we appreciated but thought it would be best to simply take her home as she became far to tired and cranky. Once we were in the car, my wife finally convinced our daughter to try the pizza. She did, to which she exclaimed - "This is the best pizza I ever had. Can I go back inside to tell Benny." We obliged and went back inside. Our daughter, now shy, asked if I could tell Benny and of course I did. Benny said thank you and as a reward for trying something new he gave her some macarons. Thank you so much to Benny and your staff for going above and beyond. We truly appreciate your efforts and generosity. We hope to...
Read moreI brushed the oil and crumbs off my hands to write this. Benny's sits on a sloped piece of land, so your car might jump a bit as you enter from the bottom into the lot, better to take the left from the higher ground. Both times when I came in and exited out a nice man held the door open for me, so proud of my fellow Iselin residents. We know our manners!
Atmosphere is very good. Loved the old-timey music, the cramped kitchen space, watching the dough folded out, looking at the beautiful pizzas on display, the seating was nice with no uneven tables and creaky chairs, photo's of generic NYC in sepia filter adorning the walls, and a eye-catching wall of proudly displayed currency with "good luck!" written on it.
I waited a bit for my Medium Cheese, but I also understand you can't rush a good pizza. Also someone called asking for the owner so who knows what type of Karen-experience was going on.
Pizza is thin, crispy, colorful (like "damn that shit is red") type of sauce and there isn't a god damn thick layer of cornmeal on the bottom, not a lot of dry crumbs just blasting around the place as you chew. Very light, not drenched in grease, but flavor is mild and pizza is easy on the jaws. I've eaten pizza before which felt like chewing cement.
For a first-timer, Benny's thank you from the bottom of my heart. Open on a Sunday, a +1 by default because that's a hard-working crew taking their weekend to work. Closed...
Read moreThe pizza was ok, not spectacular. I’ve tasted much better from Pinos. Benny’s is too expensive for a thin crust meat lover pizza that was very very light on the meat. Will probably go out of business soon. Especially if they continue to cheat their customers by hiding costs.
During my order for delivery they added a delivery charge yet asked for a tip for the the driver. What’s the purpose of the delivery charge? Why didn’t you inform me about such charge? In addition, charged for the use of my credit card. Why not inform me or give me an option? All these charges were of surprise when I received the pizza that included an itemized receipt. Even worse, the girl on the phone was not transparent about the charges even after I questioned the total that didn’t make any sense. She made it seem like it was contributed by taxes which still didn’t make sense - toooo high. Last time I spend $33 on a large meat lovers pizza at this place. Inflation must be hurting them. Again, try Pinos. Much better and very honest. The family is amazing and honest. I love their tasty pizza and their customer service. Only issue is their wait time for delivery. They get very busy so it takes forever. I guess theirs a reason. Next time, I’ll...
