I go to petco in Woodbridge to adopt a cat.. I figure instead of buying a cat from a breeder I rather adopt from humane society. I see this beautiful cat named Mason, I carried him and actually bonded with him, he was so cuddling and calm I said to myself Mason is it, he's coming home with me, I completed the adoption application with three references as require, I was told I would get a call by someone named Toni, the next day I get a call from Toni, not sure if she woke up on the wrong side of her bed, but this individual was rude, discouraging and condescending. She was trying really hard to have me adopt another cat that I've never seen, she proceeded to tell me that Mason comes with another cat name Kevin and that I would have to adopt both because Mason is always with Kevin, that they were together in their cage at petco, I told her Mason was not with another cat in a cage he was by himself and I'm really interested in Mason only, she tells me that she would let me know because she taking Mason to Vegas and if in case no one adopts him that she would call me. I thought they welcome people to adopt pets not discourage you and get you upset giving you attitudes. I just wanted to adopt a cat, I rather give the money to Humane Society rather than give it to breeders. Didn't make any sense to me how all this went down. This was one of the most professional experiences ive ever had at not just a pet store but at a store in general....ive been looking for a unique fish tank stand and looked on pet smarts website...once i found one that i liked i noticed that the closest store to me that had it was in Watchung which is about 20 mins from me...i called the store and spoke to the Leon the manager and he took tge time to look and make sure it was still in stock...i told him it was kinda late and i know they will be closing soon so i may not come and get it until tomorrow..he said no problem but theres only 2 left...i then decided you know what....ill just come get it now... he said ok no problem...i arrived at the store and Leon had the stand already at the front of the store in a cart and ready for me...i was like wow its waiting for me...Leon honored the online price ...was very professional...patient...had an excellent personality...explained the warranty to me...and offered to help me put it in my car...the guy is wonderful asset to your company...its sad because there aren't more people out there that really enjoy what they do and enjoy not only helping people but being courteous and thoughtful...thank you Leon...petco has definitely lost a customer and PetSmart has definitely gained not only me but my entire family and friends as customers!... I think the store should stop selling fish until they fix the freshwater snail infested tanks. I spent over 1k dollars setting up my office tank from this store. I had a beautiful tank that would get compliments daily, until I purchased my last 2 fish. It started slow and then grew out of control fairly quick, I was killing 100 snails a day. Within a month all my fish were dead including my fancy large goldfish. I emptied the tank purchased all new gravel, pumps, airlines and changed all filter components nothing was reused except filter housing and it was soaked in bleach, I started a new tank pretty much because of snails. Today I decided it’s time to get some fish back into the tank, so I went to petco as I always do, everything for this tank was purchased at this store nothing came from anywhere else including the fish. Today when I walked in all the tanks were infested with snails! The girl explained they have been dealing with the snails for a while now and couldn’t get rid of them either. How can this store continue to sell fish knowing they can’t handle the outbreak themselves. The store apologized but said they couldn’t really help me.. so i emailed the corporate office.
