Going to keep it ๐ฏ and give ya a honest review! I have written a review in the past... I reviewed it as one of the best deli's you could find in the ENTIRE STATE OF NEW JERSEY! From the food, to the staff, to the family environment you feel when going to Liberty! Then it all started to change... From the drink prices, to the food prices, & then to the portions of the food... This had all taken place & ZERO reasons as to why! Until one day I decided to ask... And their answers were absolutely clear & now it all made sense... LIBERTY WAS SOLD & THESE CHANGES WERE APART OF WHAT THE NEW OWNER WANTED DONE! But the original owners & staff would stay on to help the new owners transitions into being a deli owner. Wasn't thrilled about all the "NEW CHANGES" BUT I remained a loyal customer, & give the New owner a fair shot at the place that has given me ZERO reason to take my business somewhere else. Well unfortunately the more time that I kept "Trying" the more I've come to realize its time to start looking for a new Bagel shop! The new owner brought in a new cook & it was all downhill from there! The food quality had changed, the prices went up & the size of the food went down! And finally the straw that broke the camel's back was when I began to realize that the new owner was overcharging myself, & more importantly almost every customer that wasn't paying full attention to what he was punching in the register when it was time to pay! It happened once & I let it go. Then the week after AGAIN it happened, to myself & 2 others! Still I said nothing... Which leads me to today... And sure enough AGAIN IT HAPPENED! THO THIS TIME I SAID SOMETHING TO THE OWNER (Who is always on the register) ABOUT OVERCHARGING ME, TO WHICH HE RESPONDED THAT HIS NUMBERS WERE CORRECT! WHEN I TOLD HIM WHAT HE CHARGED ME FOR, I NEVER ORDERED OR WANTED. HIS RESPONSE THEN WAS, HE WAS CHARGING ME FOR USING MY DEBIT CARD TO PAY, ZERO SIGNS WERE UP ANYWHERE SAYING THAT! AND IT NEVER EVER HAPPENED WITH THE PAST OWNERS (Which was his attempt to rationalize his disgusting behavior) Well 3 strikes & your out from where I come from... Im sorry to say it but today was THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER EAT AT LIBERTY! For others that want to give it a try, I guess go for it... BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY KEEP AN EYE ON THE REGISTER... ย ย ย Read moreUsed to be a top dining choice in town. Especially for breakfast. But it seems to be going under new management/ownership and I see a lot of disorganization in my last visit. Updated February 23, 2020: On most recent visit, this one time top destination for all things breakfast and Deli is only getting worse. My son and I walk in, there is no friendliness to the place as there was one time. I ordered a coffee and there was no decaffeinated which is my preference. There was no half-and-half at all. There were no coffee cup holders at all. Took them forever to get those items. I served myself a regular coffee because I didn't feel like being in there longer than I had to. The atmosphere in there is really now officially in my view of a place that is going downhill service and management wise. I mean there's just a bad vibe to the place. What was once a welcoming experience, it's no longer. And this will be the last time I visit this establishment. If I could give them negative stars I most definitely would! Updated June 2022: I placed an order through Uber, Not only was the order messed up but I called to try and get the , straightened out before it was delivered and some young punk with an attitude answer the phone and did not correct the order. It is absolutely the last time I buy anything from this dump. UPDATED EASTER SATURDAY 2024: Even though I all but swore to never go to this establishment again, in lieu of the fact they are the only so called bagel shop in the neighborhood, I called them for a possible order for Easter Sunday, whoever answered the phone had absolutely no clue what the term "friendly customer service" means. The attitude in which he answered and responded was nothing short of abysmal. And continues the trend that this place is not what it used to be. ย ย ย Read morewhile ordering over the phone I was placed on hold twice ,the first lady I spoke to started to take my order before being placed on a brief hold. Then mid sentence the manager took the phone from her and began taking my order. the entire time the manager was rushing me and being disrespectful not allowing me to finish my sentence, he stated "I just missed two phone calls because of you!" when I went inside I asked to speak to the manager and the owner was present I kindly let him know that he was being rude and disrespectful on the phone and that I was a paying customer that goes there all the time. i stated "if he was that busy or overwhelmed to take orders over the phone they can invest in more associates or a better system to take care of the demand." the manager began going back and forth with me about missing two phone calls while taking my order, I let him know "unfortunately your in the business of customer service, and your were not handling your business correctly especially because your going back and forth with me despite you being in the wrong. after going back and forth he and the owner both agreed and admitted to doing wrong and both apologize they thanked me for the the feedback and they way I approached the manner. Once I returned to my house to eat I realized that my order was not correct so I called liberty bagel and spoke to manager that my order was not correct and he stated "what you want me to do about it" and I told him "you rushed me over the phone and you were being rude and now your telling me what you want me to do about it." after I had paid he didn't care about anything management was unprofessional and not taking accountability for their behavior and the lack of empathy toward a customer who spent $60 truly feels like a slap in the face.
